The facts are not everyone is cut from the cloth of a boss. Some people are far happier as employees as they can do what they do, get paid, go home and then do it all again without a care in the world.

That and many people who get into business do everything they think they're supposed to do besides what they need to do.

The hustlers spirit is in you or it isn't.

Women can (and do) get it in though and often in some surprising lanes they opened up entirely by themselves but that type keep their cards close to their chest because they know how the rest get and thus they fly straight, low key and quietly stack chips.

@CodeBlaMeVi A single member LLC is considered a disregarded entity according to the IRS. This is known but do you. Try reading the tax code. No one said anything goofy about using W-2 income on a schedule c. Lol

Some of yall don't seem to realize revenue is not profit.

24k in revenue is money generated before any expenses are deducted. Most of these businesses bw tend to start are reselling products or have high fixed cost so they ain't even squeezing a profit from that 24k.



This is the type of thinking that keeps generations of black folks broke. Turn down 90k with full benefits for $0 net profit business. Most folks would be better off getting a degree in a good field and getting a job.

A typical corporate benefits package (401k match, health insurance, paid holidays and vacation and sick time) is normally worth over 20k alone on top of your salary.

I think the bigger issue is black people just cant work together. You can have those with the same talent/skill set, yet they want to go in it alone. I said this in other threads, we have a ton of tradesmen in the black community, a ton of educated black men with degrees in business.. Somehow they can't come together and build a corporation like white people do.. We look at white people all the time when we want to make excuses in destroying one another. But somehow, we ignore how the white HVAC companies how white collar people in the front offices, while the blue collar workers are bringing up the rear.. We got to be the white collar and blue collar guy of the company. Same with women and nail salons. Chinese people have a person working the finances, while 6-7 chinese workers are doing the nails, making hundreds of thousands A WEEK.

WE ARE THE PROBLEM..

We don't need to work together to build businesses

Yes we need more Black businesses but we also need to make sure Black businesses have access to capital. Plus Black people have smaller professional networks so we are automatically at a disadvantage when starting a business compared to cacs. All of this is due to racism. Eliminate the racism instead of telling people not to start a business. Black folks should not have undue burdens.

If you're short on capital, change your strategy, niche etc. Racism isn't going to ever be eliminated so now what? Just going to sit on your hands crying foul indefinitely?

Funny how entrepreneurship all of a sudden is frowned upon and laughed at. This is why you cannot take the comments on this site serious AT ALL. They'll skew their comments to fit their agenda and it's hilarious. I'm all for black people turning an idea/hobby into a business. If the quality is good, I'm supporting it and telling others about it. Never have I ever shat on someone who wasn't afraid to take a chance. I might not be their target demo etc but I'll wish them nothing but success

Maybe you got accounting, legal, or IT skills. Hit them chicks with a proposal to expand the business so that it makes more revenue and can hire more employees.

They don't make enough money to pay someone to manage their books.. I know this because a lot of them around me couldn't get a legit PPP because of improper book keeping.

Small business ain't glamourous, if we keep it a buck. A lot of people think when you are self employed, you'll be drinking mojitos on a beach while passively browsing on a laptop.

That being said, 24k is still not too bad in my book. Being able to produce revenue on your own is an invaluable skill. Instability exists overall. These ladies could be working for the man in a "stable" role and could have ended up on the chopping block in one of the recent layoffs. Imagine having to compete for a set amount of the jobs in a market that just became inundated with competition.
