Yeah Shaq underperformed but he still got 4 rings.

Dwight should be at least gotten 2. His physical attributes are off the charts but he never developed post moves and didn't have the mentality.

I can forgive circumstances and not living up to physical gifts. but Dwight never had "It." At his BEST he won one game in the Finals and barely out scored Rashard Lewis in that series.

Realistically speaking, when was there really a chance for Dwight to get any, let alone a pair of rings? Their 2009 team really shouldn’t have been in the finals in the first place, getting pushed to 7 games by a Celtics team missing KG and with 3 of their games against the cavaliers not being decided until the final 5 seconds of the game despite the cavaliers second best player being Mo Williams. As soon as they faced a team with real quality in its front court with Pau & Bynum and a top tier scoring/creating wing in Kobe during the finals, they got dealt with fairly quickly. That postseason they had a starting back court of Courtney Lee and Raefor Alston. The 2010 lineup got crushed in the conference finals by Boston with Garnett back in the lineup. 2011 saw the magic decline sharply and in 2012 he went out with back surgery. The only playoff success he’s seen since the 2010 playoffs was in the 2015 playoffs where they ran into a vastly better warriors team. I can’t recall a team he played on losing a series it should have won besides maybe the 2014 quarterfinals against Portland.

Dwight's career could’ve been better than it was, but his career was generally a case of wrong place at the wrong time as much as it was him needing a jumper and at least 1-2 go to moves in the post. His game wasn’t what you want in your top scorer. He arrived in Orlando just as McGrady goes to Houston and the best player he gets to play with is either Rashard Lewis or a past his prime Vince Carter and eventually he needs back surgery. He gets to Los Angeles just as the organization turns into a mess and leaves after a season. Things started off solid in Houston but kinda fizzled out while he had knee problems & Har_en was really not interested in playing defense and was isolating way too much and now here we are. He’s still a lock for the hall of fame though. For a while it felt like he was an easy lock to predict for defensive player of the year and I probably would’ve voted for him to be the MVP in 2011. As it is though, he’s the only guy from 2006 onward to lead a team without a past, present, or future MVP to the finals.

Nobody reading all this Cac :mjlol:

Now it's Shaq and Kobe's fault that cats unfairly hated on Dwight?:beli:Shaq was always saying he expected more from Dwight, and he wasn't down with the Superman stuff. The second one is trivial. People wanted to claim Shaq was hating by always saying what Dwight was doing wasn't enough...until nikkas started saying what Dwight was doing wasn't enough. @Malta was the only dude I remember, back in the SOHH days, who called Dwight out for his lack of post game when a lot of people tried to prop Dwight up as a superior, or eventually superior, center than Shaq. It wasn't until he was indecisive about leaving Orlando and that awkward Stan Van Gundy interview happened that it became cool to hate on Dwight. LWO jumped aboard for obvious reasons but Dwight's new name had already been changed to "bytch ass nikka" around these parts before the Laker experiment failed:camby:

You might be right but I'm just going off of physical ability and trajectory. Dude underperformed. Or at least been in the running for MVP

Now that we are on the subject, is dwight the second most athletic centre after Wilt. In his physical prime, I can't think of another centre other than Wilt as athletically gifted. David Robinson came close but didn't have Dwight's vertical.
