Weapons are Reloaded But Nobody Shoots Blanks: Weekend Box Office Results (Aug. 15-17)
After a wonderful opening weekend,
Weapons is back busting with
$25M - a fantastic -42.5% hold. Now, that's no
Sinners, which posted a
$45.7M second weekend, which was an impossible 4.8% drop. You just don't see that kind of hold for a horror movie. Still, a 42.5% decline for
Weapons is an excellent horror hold.
Look no further than
Final Destination: Bloodlines, whose
$19.3M was a 62.5% drop from opening weekend. And I thought
Bloodlines was both the better and more entertaining movie.

And
28 Years Later fell by a precipitous 67.5% in its second weekend.
Weapons has skyrocketed up the 2025 horror ranks. Its
$89M domestic total is the third best from a horror movie this year. It's only $1M away from 2022's
The Black Phone's $90.1M theatrical total. Another movie I liked more.
Wash those glizzies down with a nice, Cherry Icee and enjoy the movie.
Bob Odenkirk's
Nobody 2 was seen by almost nobody, and only managed a
$9.2M opening. The sequel comes 4 years after the release of
Nobody during the COVID-stricken 2021. The kung-flu did not stop
Nobody from becoming a sleeper hit- making
$27.5M after a miniscule
$6.8M opening. That's $8.3M adjusted for inflation but
Nobody only opened in 2,460 theaters to the sequel's 3,260. Not the type of audience expansion that Universal is looking for with a burgeoning franchise.
Apparently, so was the audience.

I'll catch you in two weeks when you land on PVOD.
Notables
2016's
Shin Godzilla received a 4K remaster and re-release this weekend. It made
$1,625,927 from 1,290 theaters. It made $1.9M in its original theatrical run, including
$458K from only 34 theaters in its opening weekend.
