:what:

it's like all of you NYC dudes don't get to learn how to properly comprehend the things you read in school.

y'all miss the entire point of shyt people say, but find all types of extraneous ( that means things that are irrelevant to the topic) shyt to :damn: about.

You're correct i didn't get it. Here's the thread's topic.

"NY brehs,if y'all rappers did what West Coast rappers did..y'all would be back by now"

So i said, HMM, with a statement like this, there has to be a good number of popular west coast artists getting a lot of attention. Then i started to think, who are these west coast artists that you're speaking of? I couldn't think of anyone (new) outside of Kendrick and School boy Q. I was a bit lost that's all. Ight, re-read it. Still don't agree with what you're saying. What new sound is coming out? We can go group for group if you want to talk that unity stuff because I see plenty of artists working with eachother (and it's always been like that). It seems more like a you're trying way too hard to get a thread with replies. This topic has been made millions of times.

these new dudes aint trying to do all that.

they're all on some "i dont fukk with anybody, but my crew" and :rudy: at the thought of working with other local artists who are hot.

Atleast there is some form of unity though. Honestly outside of Joey, Action, ASAP and French, I don't really know who else is new and buzzing in New York? They're still looking to the old guard from what I can tell.

Joeys working with local producers, but he's got a massive crew he's trying to put on, so it's understandable he wouldn't network, kind of like Odd Future on their initial come up. ASAP is in a similar position, but his music it aint regional at all, and that's reflected in his collabs.

I don't think it's as crab in a bucket as it used to be though, I just don't think there's many young cats buzzing to build a scene like that :manny:

The fact that people claim NY has no unity is just untrue in so many cases. Cliques coming out like Flatbush Zombies, Pro Era etc and are all working together. Kendrick blew up because he made a good album, but he also had the machine behind him. What NY heads are looking for a c/s? If anything it's people coming up to NY to look for that cosign. New York isn't poppin like it should be, because the people who are talking about the every-day experiences of regular cats aren't getting any radio play really.

The biggest culprit is probably hot 97's program director. All this shyt about the "major leagues" and our ears weren't ready for Yeezus ebcause we've been fed so much bullshyt (by him).

The problem with New York isn't the talent, it's the circumstance around it right now. Give it a bit, we have the young guns coming up soon.

U sure the problem ain't talent:usure:.....I don't care how many of them nikkas join forces ,that shyt woulda been great back when NY had superstar talent, but itss too late now......if the best nikkas at the ymca join forces its still just the best nikkas at the Y:laff:.....y'all ain't got a allstar to your regions name outside of the legends and Nicki Minaj....if it ain't kobe:bow:,Wade,Lebron,Dwight Howard, dirk joinin forces then joinin forces and working together is irrelevent far as seein success imo.

And to be honest id say Cali in the same damn boat,Kendrick doin it big but he just don't give that superstarvibe imo,but his success is his success....Cali got more potential id say right now as usual:mjpls:....but its still just a bunch of nikkas at the Y in my eyes until they prove sumthin, seen a lot of nikkas have a spark and go nowhere..

End of the day Calis comeback is immenent,if we had the hiphop media like y'all do it would be a rap already....imagine problem bein from NY and no bein a superstar already:childplease:...our grind is harder but its comin.....we need to learn to use yalls media a little more, maybe workin with NY nikkas more,do NY dikklicking like game wuz when he came out....I like it better this way tho:obama:that slow rise

I know.......that shyt dont need to be explained.....its self explanatory..........

So if an artist has a sold out show, he's relevant and/or popular (maybe a bad word to use)? And what album has he dropped? How long has he been out? I'm not really into the back and forth, I'm actually curious. I love west Coast music (love music in general) so my questions are more serious and not sarcastic. I don't think he's a name in the industry that you're average fan knows/wants to hear. I may be off too, just never heard ANYONE ever talk about him in real life haha.

If you know anything about NY, Most dudes aint even from NY nowadays. People are moving out/getting locked up like crazy but like most people on this forum, you probably don't know the dynamics of NYC (or maybe you do haha). Things have changed big time. Most times i Go out, there are mad out of towners. Don't be so quick to think that these are NY people attending these shows. I don't want to argue tho, re-read my additional comments. I've never seen anything or heard anyone talk about him.

there's always room for improvement anywhere. i don't agree that NY is the end all, beat all, because hiphop has been around for a little while now. it belongs to everyone.

i also don't think the east needs to take a cue from any other region. do what works in your area. if they weren't a problem, it wouldn't be a topic of discussion as far as them coming back.

and the south is still on top as far as people getting on imo. even GKMC was recorded in the A.

networking is the key to everything. grind it til you find the shyt, but the coastal/local debate shyt is debilitating because you can go national or global. and this ain't new. pac was all over, luda was all over, asap was all over and they all have/had multifaceted careers.

i think it was bun b, not sure tho, that said something about rap just being a tool. it's not your talent, broz. it's your work ethic for sure.

with this logic, i guess i'll have to say that i agree with the OP.
