New York invented Hip Hop. Any other city or state that does Hip Hop music is biting NY's style, bottom line.
This is a stupid post because other regions of the country have influenced Hip Hop's growth in the past, I don't know, THIRTY years.
Case in point, West Coast Hip Hop was about the streets from jump street. Ever since Too $hort and Ice T, West Coast Hip Hop was about painting a vivid picture of the darker side of urban life. If it weren't for the West, NY rappers would still be rapping about sneakers, rocking house parties and developing complex rhyme schemes with the subject matter completely limited to rapping on stage and eating "sucka mc's".

NY lost its prominence to the West in the early 90's because West Coast Rap was a more raw reflection of urban life at the time. When the East Coast took the crown back from Cali, your music sounded hella more serious and all those non-threatening happy a$$ songs about roller skating on Saturdays, trading rhymes on the boulevard of Linden and losing your wallet in El Segundo went out the window.

NY switched up its style because of Cali. Even Puffy said he was trying to make an "East Coast version of the
The Chronic" with
Ready to Die.
But NY is probably never coming back. Hip Hop has been dead. I can see Seattle becoming a new white Hip Hop mecca because of Crackalemore before NY "coming back".

Its pretty disgusting.
