if you looked at the prominent rappers in LA right now

Nipsey,Dom,Casey Veggies,YG,TDE, OF,Pac Div, Problem,Skeme etc. all did their shyt, with no real co-sign from a West Coast Vet.... and made their own shyt bubble, while all working together on tracks.

it wasn't no, oh he's just poppin cause he's such and such's rapper....Power is well known for not fukking with LA rappers, and these cat's changed all that.

Snoop told all them cats to stop looking for handouts, and quit trying to ride coattails, and make names for themselves...and all the shyt they want will come to them.

New York has not identity. New York urban radio dikk rides everyone else. When I lived in cali there was love shown to local artists as well as from the outside. Southern radio supports its own as well.

New York is where hip hop started but its not the be all to end all anymore and it never will be again.

Not that long ago, LA radio didn't play any of it's local artists...it was to the point where rappers protested outside the stations,and rappers were calling for PD's to be fired and DJ Skee to be take the helm.
