So, is anyone going to go into reparations in detail? Is anyone going to breakdown why Jews and Japanese got their reparations vs why it would be harder for blacks to get them?

Or are a bunch of people just going to scream reparations like they have tourette syndrome?

I can tell you one difference. The sheer amount of money.

The Japanese got $20K per person. If you do that for every descendant of a former slave in the US, it would be $600 Billion. The Japanese got $1.2B

malcolm x was in the beginning stages of suing for reparations before he died. johnnie cochran, and a couple of black intellectuals were in the process of bringing up charges against the united states for reparations before he died. I believe black americans should receive reparations, in the form of individual checks, as well as programs, one such being free or significantly reduced pricing for higher education. I also believe the other races of people who have been paid grinning in our faces, while we are suppose to forget about it & move on..

altho there is something to what obama said, I also agree he should stfu instead of detailing. remember, obama is a puppet for those who really run this country. a figurehead just like all the rest.

Best thing to do, is keep your mouth shut and move covertly.

Didn't the US pay Japanese Americans, Native Americans, Jewish Americans, etc? But blacks, the people they literally dragged across the globe to terrorize and rape can't get rep, we also have one of the smallest populations in the states, but its impossible. :dead:

Get this c00n out of my face.

They don't feel they did anything wrong.

Not the same. The truth is, giving black Americans what we're owed at this point would leave the economy in shambles. It's trillions at this point. Not millions, not
Billions. Trillions.

Oh well they should have paid it back instead of making jim crow after slavery was over... but They could give the japanese back money for their interment in ww2 and the jews as well... but when we came back from the war we're still "******s" to them.

:mjpls:

Trillions.... Well they got money for these wars, they pass that shyt in a heartbeat but cant pay back for their past fukkups huh but continue to keep making the same fukkups... :francis:

How would reparations for us even work? Even if you could track down direct slave descendants (:myman:) how would you come up with the funds? Is Congress supposed to draft a bill to raise that money:skip:2016/17 Congress:skip: You mean the Congress that was elected by the half of the country that also elected a xenophobic candidate:skip:

Plus many ppl believe affirmative action is reparations. Being treated like "equals" on paper is our reparations.:mjpls:
We should have a racial draft first to keep c00ns and biracials out:hubie:

I was never holding my breath for it in the first place but Obama was better off keeping his mouth shut
‘Better Is Good’: Obama on Reparations, Civil Rights, and the Art of the Possible

Read the whole interview. It's good. The dailycaller writer posted out-of-context pieces and took liberties with some of his words. The dailycaller is disreputable. The dailycaller shouldn't be used as a source.

"Obama: Step No. 2, and this is where I think policies do need to be somewhat race-specific, is making sure that institutions are not discriminatory. So you’ve got something like the FHA [Federal Housing Administration], which was on its face a universal program that involved a huge mechanism for wealth accumulation and people entering into the middle class. But if, in its application, black folks were excluded from it, then you have to override that by going after those discriminatory practices. The same would be true for something like Social Security, where historically, if you just read the law and the fact that it excluded domestic workers or agricultural workers, you might not see race in it, unless you knew that that covered a huge chunk of African Americans, particularly in the South. So reinvigorating the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department, making sure that in our Department of Education, where we see evidence of black boys being suspended at substantially higher rates than white boys for the same behavior, in the absence of that kind of rigorous enforcement of the nondiscrimination principle, then the long-standing biases that I believe have weakened, but are still clearly present in our society, assert themselves in ways that usually disadvantage African Americans."

"Obama: Now, does that mean that all vestiges of past discrimination would be eliminated, that the income gap or the wealth gap or the education gap would be erased in five years or 10 years? Probably not, and so this is obviously a discussion we’ve had before when you talk about something like reparations. Theoretically, you can make, obviously, a powerful argument that centuries of slavery, Jim Crow, discrimination are the primary cause for all those gaps. That those were wrongs done to the black community as a whole, and black families specifically, and that in order to close that gap, a society has a moral obligation to make a large, aggressive investment, even if it’s not in the form of individual reparations checks, but in the form of a Marshall Plan, in order to close those gaps. It is easy to make that theoretical argument. But as a practical matter, it is hard to think of any society in human history in which a majority population has said that as a consequence of historic wrongs, we are now going to take a big chunk of the nation’s resources over a long period of time to make that right. You can look at examples like postwar Germany, where reparations were paid to Holocaust victims and families, but—"

He's 100% correct because Congress won't approve it.

But is it something he can issue an executive order on? :patrice:
Congress has power of the purse. Where would the money come from?
