pretty much. If you a grown up getting all exciting about making $9.00 per/h you need to go back and think about where you f'd up in life.

:wtf:

do nikkas like you live in a world where it isn't a recession outside? where almost 30 million americans are unemployed and struggling to put food on the table? where people who once made 60k a year are now relegated to making 8.00/hr? that shyt is real. i swear, you sheltered shutins need to step outside and see how nikkas are really living in this world. so those 27 million unemployed adults fukked up in life?

My apologies breh, I made a very grotesque comment without even considering the harsh reality for many, in which you presented. I put my foot in my mouth without thinking (I haven't really watched or focused on the news in months because of the depressing outlook on life it constantly present...guess I lost track of all the terrible shyt that's still going on out here). Hopefully this pay increase serves it purpose without delivering some type of f'd up side effect (layoffs, spike in cost of living, etc.) that would make peoples situation worst.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
It had/has to be done. The state of NJ has a minimum wage of 7.25 which is terrible. At least if it goes to 9.00 people can be able to afford to buy stuff and thus leads to more spending and when you buy stuff it leads to the stores being more busy and more jobs will be created.

in NJ 9.00 an hour is poverty (well at least in Northern NJ) Unless you living with someone else you cannot have a decent crib, car and pay utilities, gas, food, phone/cable on 9.00 an hour

It's not a condescending thing, or trying to say I make so much money, here the minimum is like $8.25, San Diego, Califonia. So, if it's 9, I mean it HELPS, but an extra 40 dollars a week...isn't going to help very many people raise to the middle class, or provide for a family, or purchase a home. But, it's welcome nonetheless. For the kid in high school, or just out, with no family, little financial obligations, this is great.

thats about 40 extra $1 chicken sandwhiches from mcdonalds or some shyt. you really think minimum wage workers are spendin $50 a plate for dinner?

I cant believe these cats in here defending the rich people. They brought all this upon themselves when they decided to hoard all the money for themselves and keep wages stagnant for the last 40 years. This country has the one of the largest income inequality gaps in the modern world yet there is no shortage of people defending the rich.

Map: U.S. Ranks Near Bottom on Income Inequality - Max Fisher - The Atlantic

How can a country with as much wealth as the US rank so poorly on income distribution and still have people on the bottom end of the spectrum defending it?

and they gone stay rich. obama can't raise the "min wage" in india.

I can't even front, I thought the same thing. It just doesn't make sense to have a federal wide limit, when every state is different. $9/hr in Texas will go further than $9 in Cali or New York. I still applaud the effort of the president, but as stated in the thread, there will be consequences.

In terms of the deficit, what was the original budget anyway? What worked a decade ago for a government may not be sustainable in current times. I mean the same budget you had in college, would probably starve you and your family now. So budget adjustments are necessary. I think if more people worked, more people to be taxed and more would spend (unfortunately) and things would balance out in a sense.

This will only create inflation and result in higher prices. Obama is an idiot and so is anyone thinking that this is a good idea. The best way to increase the amount of money in your pocket is to LOWER TAXES.

Yes it does make sense, otherwise some states would never raise it (which must be done to track inflation). Most states choose to institute a higher minimum wage which is reflective of their respective economies....the federal government just sets the bare minimum. I don't see why this is so hard for some to understand.

The federal minimum wage should have been $9 more than 3 years ago.

Says the new yorker that apparrently doesn't understand economics. The correct statement you should have said is that the STATE mimimum wage should have been etc. The federal goverment has NO Business dictating what the federal wage should be because every local principalities' economy is different.
