Well Scorpio or neo changes none of that.

What's the problem:dahell:
The only change is the transition from one console generation to the next is becoming more fluid. They're basically running console generations in parallel now but they still exist.

If you look at the PC there isn't a concept like console generations because PCs are open box and you can tinker with them as you see fit. Consoles are still closed box so if you bought an Xbox One at launch in x amount of years it won't be able to run modern games anymore. Really how is that any different than things are now?

My line of thinking is that this isn't a positive. There will perpetually be a $400ish box and as the new boxes release they'll drive down the resell price of the old ones. The difference between a console doing this and a cell phone doing it is a cell phone is a utility device and a console is pure entertainment.

The guy that's still rocking an iPhone 5s, it still makes calls, it still does text, it still takes decent pictures. At the base level it does everything needed. Most of the new features cell phones add are gimmicks anyway. A game console is not a utility device and most of it's value is running the latest games well. As game consoles get upgraded they lose the majority of their appeal. That iPhone 5s might not run the latest games as fast but on the iPhone games are optional. On a console games are the whole point so when that old console doesn't run games as well what good is it?

The guy rocking a PS4/XB1 will still be playing games, watching Netflix/twitch, etc, for the next 3-5 years, like they would have without the existence of neo/Scorpio.

So, what's the damn problem:martin:

The problem is the console experience is no longer standardized but its still closed box hardware. Consoles keep adopting PC like attitudes but want to remain closed box and charge for things like online multiplayer. They're taking away most of the advantages of owning a console and adding in all the disadvantages of owning a gaming PC yet keeping the console disadvantages.

The guy that bought the PS3 at launch and kept it the whole generation got more value out of it at the highest standard of the platform than the guy that bought a PS4 3 years ago and now has to watch a Neo come out and have his PS4 become a second class experience in comparison.

Scorpio only games for the first year or two will probably be games optimized for the Oculus or current gen games with added VR features as a separate paid download or some shyt

There was nothing in this conference that wasn't 2016 or early 2017 so my guess would be development of Xbox 1S games are done sooner than we think. curious to see what the Neo is and when Sony is ready to move on from PS4

That's pretty much a given now at this point. :francis:

Not mad though, but damn I wanted it earlier.

But we damn sure not getting 4k/60 at 400 bucks. nikkaz is smoking some serious shyt if they think that is happening by the end of next year.

Is the gaming media calling out Microaoft for the Bullshyt-ass lie?
