Joseph and McNeil will NEVER live up to those contracts and Jamo is iffy too considering our best player (Gibbs), most important to Goff (Laporta) and best defender (Jack) aren’t signed. Brad better figure it out quick

We cannot talk about contracts without talking about the upcoming TV deal and how smart teams (especially the Eagles and Lions) are positioning themselves with void years. This is not an either/or convo when it comes to who to sign. Kerby's deal is extremely team friendly and flexible, with an easy out. Alim's deal has flexibility but I wouldn't touch it until he proves he's fully back from the ACL.

Gibbs won't break the bank. Jack hitting the Pro Bowl works in our favor with any upcoming deal (you can spread the 5th year hit around, like we did with Hutch). Jamo getting signed isn't going to prevent any of this. And Laporta is going to depend on back surgery. Is he fine? Re-sign him. If we need to wait and see that's an option too. Unfortunately Branch probably is the odd man out due to injury. These injuries have prob completely changed Holmes' plan in my opinion.

Restructuring Goff gets us significant cap relief (at least 30-35). We can get 20mil from St Brown by turning his 2026 salary into a bonus. Add in the 20mil rolled over from this year and we can do a lot of shyt. Does that mean signing Trey Hendrickson? Bringing Ragnow back? A lot of shyt is on the table and there's no reason to dikk around.

Gibbs is about to complete 3 seasons nearly injury free.

He has the cleanest injury report of any RB I can think of. Compare that to his “peer” Achane in Miami. Gibbs is the ultimate exception at the position. CMC is now beginning to slightly decline at age 29. Jahmyr is 23, so he’s someone that can be counted on years to come. We can save that tag for someone like Branch provided he returns to form
Guys like CMC and Henry are exceptions. Crazy durability considering workload they had even going back to their college days. Makes most sense to tag Gibbs or Laporta. Branch will have little leverage when he ready for a new contract.

They still haven't leaned on Gibbs that heavily. To me, it makes sense to lock him down. Never gets injured and still capable of more.

I'm not touching a LaPorta extension. Feels like he's gonna have a short shelf life. I'd be fine with yearly tags on him.

Branch...I don't know. I think he's better than Kirby but after the Achilles tear, gotta see how he recovers.

Henry yeah but CMC shouldn't be tagged with durability, his injury report over the years is rather lengthy.

NFC #1 seed won by Goff last season and now Sam fukking Darnold. Seems clear to me that fixing the o-line (specifically the center) and hiring a legitimate OC will fix this.

Defense wise...if you watched tonight's game did you see how physical that d-line was? How active their hands were? The stunts? They're actively attacking towards the QB. Our d-line just holds space until the o-linemen wear out. Get rid of that shytty scheme.

Fraudulent ass Bears team.

Still have no clue how they won so many games this year

Glad Campbell got to give Johnson two Ls this year

They be pick 16 or 17 in draft depending on Ravens game tonight. This draft kinda sucks. Dropping with win is whatever

Terrible coaching, insane injuries (again), questionable offseason decisions coming to haunt us...and still won 9 games with a #1 seed schedule. This shyt isn't as dire as I felt over the last couple weeks. That being said I think @Regular_P is 100% right: if we don't tackle this offseason aggressively we might as well flush everything down the toilet. The roster is full of young vets who are really good but the holes on the roster - while only a few - are glaring. It will be unacceptable not to get legitimate upgrades at DE, C, and CB. With CB, I'm not giving up on Terrion, still think he'll be good. But there needs to be legit competition between him, Reed, and somebody else. And we likely need a legit nickel. No issue bringing Amik back as depth but he shouldn't be CB3 anymore.

You can't play man all day with no pass rush. And we can't consistently run the ball without a legit center. Fix both those issues and we'll be back.

Like yall said. Holmes has to be aggressive. With restructures and Decker retiring Lions can open up crazy amount of cap space

Feel Lions should patch up oline in FA. Not excited about any rookie RT with already having so many young guys inside already. Move Sewell to LT. Sign best vet C on market (Linderbaum , McGovern). Add a vet RT to compete with Manu for that spot. Let young guards compete for those two spots

Trade Montgomery to recoup some draft picks. Maybe a late 3rd or early 4th rd pick. He makes too much money and Gibbs is too good to keep both. Monty can start on alot of teams and Lions can get a power back/change of pace back elsewhere for much cheaper that doesn’t have expectations on certain amount of touches

Break the bank for a passrusher (Hendrickson, Philps). Look into Crosby situation.

Anzalone falloff had alot to do with defense struggles. Quay Walker or Devin Lloyd would be nice. Or Sonny Styles in draft

Vet safeties in FA are easy to come by. Position not valued highly in FA. Always good safeties available late in FA. Harper was actually pretty solid. No clue what to expect from Kerby. Downs could drop in draft because he’s a safety and be another Kyle Hamilton

They need insurance fir Laporta and have to take another shot at QB to be developed
