Tuesday night is the deadline and the House of Representative will have no votes on funding the government. Trump has also told the House not to speak to Democrats.

It's a business as usual. Just theatrics. It's a tool to influence midterm elections.

In my adult life they've shut the govt down More than half a dozen times to get political brownie points. It's not even just a republican thing , since democrats have also done it.

Both sides usually wail and moan to the public that they're strong on their beliefs and they won't compromise, but by the end of the day they end up coming to the table and working out a deal. They even go out for coffee and tea afterwards, with the same people they had called enemies a week prior.


The worst thing about it is they can totally end it if they want to. And Congress can work another method to automatically resolve the funding issues, but This would deprive them of an opportunity to get brownie points with their constituents. And they don't care if regular people lose their incomes or pension payments over it, since their own congressional salaries keep coming during that period of time. I bet you there would never be another shutdown in American history if their congressional salaries were frozen during a shutdown.

I got a bad feeling that a shut down will last for a while, because those Epstein files will be coming out due to a recent election in Arizona were another Democrat won a congressional seat. That puts the total number of representatives at 218 who are voting for releasing the Epstein files which is now the majority. Trump and his cronies are trying to block swearing in the new representative and people are now speculating that a government shutdown is one of the last cards Trump has to play to prevent releasing the file.

State and Local governments will also be greatly impacted by a prolonged shutdown this time.
