Thibs really went ride or die with that starting line up and just died. If Thibs made a pivot towards starting Mcbride at some point of the season he probably still has a job, but teams really threw a center on Hart like the big joker and Thibs didn't do enough to counter it. We tried screening for Josh off-ball, tried getting him involved in more actions to make teams pay for putting a big on him, but nothing worked for long. A line up change was the only answer but Thibs was too stubborn to adjust, and we started out the gate so slow each game because of it. Yeah we ended up in the ECF, but what the Knicks did this season to get to that point was improbable really. We made so many comebacks and closed so many games late, and made multiple 20 point comebacks in the playoffs (stuff that hadn't happened in NBA history before), but we only had to do any of that because that starting line up ensured we where down 10 or 15 at some point each game. These holes were self inflicted, and to be frank we were literally a Clutch Player of the Year away from being mid. Take Jalen out of the equation and we're probably a play-in team. Thibs was a paradox this year, he drew max effort from each player, but his line ups didn't put them in the best position to succeed, and that's why he's gone. It sucks, but a coach who is that stubborn is kind of risky to have at the helm.
