I don’t think our situations are the same.
They’re not you see it as different because this is New York City and we’re supposed to be better. We’re less homegrown than them so there’s more expectations due to flashy moves.

It’s also just totally different fans.

Im just saying thibs shouldn’t get credit for that series win

Of course the Knicks won but it was more about Boston blowin it ,then their best player got injured

You cannot be down double digits in 5 out of 6 games in a playoff series and say you were better ,that’s lack of execution for Boston
He should though because the gameplan was to keep it close and capitalize when Boston got cold because we knew they wouldn’t stop shooting and we have the best closer who goes on solo runs and increases pressure in games.

Besides Mazzula made coaching errors and didn’t deviate from the system which Thibs capitalized on.

Thibs made adjustments in the series such as utilizing the double big line up more, managed Robinson’s minutes well through the Hack-a-Shaq and benching KAT when needed, and using Brunson to hedge against Tatum who was ineffective until the game he got hurt in.

50 wins. Two All NBA players. Won two playoff series. Defeated the defending champs in the playoffs

Managed the rotation pretty well without Mitch
Managed the rotation pretty well without Precious
Managed the rotation without Brunson/McBride/Payne at the same time pretty well

Yes, they didn't beat any of the 60 win teams in the regular season. But he clearly made up for that by making the Conference Finals.
I agree he did okay with the rotation without Mitch. Disagree with the rest. Celtics series had more to do with Celtics playing slow, not taking advantage of Knicks weaknesses, and Mazzulla coaching like a dyckhead more than anything Thibs was doing that series. You think he coached well against Detroit and Indy or that stretch leading up to the Playoffs?

Why trade for Kat and not even attempt to utilize him correctly.

This and the fact he was clearly outcoached in 2 rounds out of three with this roster means you shouldn't be crying over him losing his job

We also have different timelines due salary tax implications etc. I’m sure it could be different if Indiana’s window was drastically smaller than it is now and Carlisle shyt the bed strategically.

Why do y’all keep saying this?

He shot threes at one of the lower clips of his career but he still played his game. All things considered this was the most complete season of his career.

Disagree here. He gets credit for beating Boston. But he also has to take the blame for looking shaky against Detroit and looking downright unprepared against Indiana.

You just watched Cam Payne have ONE good game for three rounds of playoffs

Why are you celebrating this roster. These bench dudes are marginal

You still haven't said what Thibs did well this season
Honestly I thought Thibs did better than most coaches in this situation.

People say he should’ve started Mitch earlier but the problem is Mitch came back March 1st. The playoffs started April 19th. Thibs was told by the doctors that Mitch had to be eased in slowly coming off Ankle (and we know how big Mitch is) surgery.

Also according to Hartenstein the Knicks don’t practice so they can preserve their bodies for the games. There was just no pathway for Mitch to assimilate into the starting lineup between the March 1st and April 19 start. If Thibs had a healthier Mitch this is probably a different story.

Secondly the bench was mediocre. Cam Payne has to be the most inconsistent player on the team. Add in Kolek mediocrity on defense, Pacome shooting 40/31/84 percent in the G-LEAGUE and there’s just no way he can contribute to a playoff team. Even if you bring up Deuce to start over Hart do you really think a Deuce McBride (6’2) and Jalen Brunson (6’0) backcourt with KAT as a center was going to work?

Third, no coach can fix what Brunson and Towns are on defense. Towns and Brunson are just way too flat footed and unathletic to be fixed. You can’t zone defense your way out of that.

In the end as a Knick fan I’ll psychologically convince myself the next coach is exactly what we need but Thibs did a great job considering the circumstances.
