What kind of fabrics is the pattern calling for? Me and @Fun Sized Psycho could probably find some online stores to choose from.
lol. girl, I don't deal with wovens. But yeah, fabric.com is good, as is fashionfabricsclub.com

I gotta show yall the stuff I've been making.
I'm a member of a lot of custom fabric groups on FB (idk if I already said that), and it's so hard finding black people. A lot of the groups have the Disney princess, and most of them don't have Tiana. :mjcry:

I feel you on the Disney princesses that they leave Tiana out of a lot stuff. Might have to come up with some stuff with her face on it.
I really only work with wovens mostly because I like bias cut stuff I need to post pics of the maxi circle skirt and elastic waist maxi skirt that I've been working on. I accidentally ruined the elastic waist skirt when I was trying to trim the hem down and ended up cutting into a bit of the skirt (was talking to my sister). I may cut it and turn it into a midi, :mjcry:. The circle skirt is interesting because I originally had a regular waistband with fusible interfacing, but I have had so much trouble with fusible interfacing no actually fusing to the waistband piece so I ripped out the waistband (did this like three times before that) ripped out the pockets and redid the skirt, with a new waistband and using elastic as interfacing instead and adding a hook and eye (the kind that you see on pants) with a lapped zipper. It seems weird but it all came together pretty well. I'm not entirely thrilled with the placement of the hook and bar and I might change the position of it and add an extra bar. I've been procrastinating on hemming it since hemming and top stitching aren't my strong suits, but its gotta be done.

Hook and bar:

I have a cinch belt that looks really good with the maxi circle skirt (which also needs taken in smh) but no shirt to go with it just yet. That may be the next project I work on. I might make some petticoats to go underneath the skirts to give them some shape.

What sewing groups are you apart of ?

Girl, I done cut fabric while in the middle of sewing twice already. The second one I was able to fix it without it being noticeable.
Do you want the specific names of the groups?

I actually want to get into the custom fabric business, so I can get black characters. But *some* of the groups in a part of have black characters

Ignore the mess on the floor, it's scrap fabric.
This is the circle skirt, I've been working on, it looks lopsided because some parts are longer than others (the nature of circle skirts)

This is with the cinch belt on.

This is the elastic waist skirt, I cut into it and handstitched the piece back onto the skirt, You can't see it in the picture, but it's kinda visible in person.

It's wrinkly from being folded up, but this is the skirt I made from the vintage pattern I mentioned in a previous post. I added a red zipper (which is also vintage, mostly because I didn't feel like going to JoAnn lol)

This is the only person I know that black that sells custom fabric, but often times they tend to be a little juvenile. A lot of the custom fabric tends to be made for kids, or at least with them in mind.

I love this group also. Even it's not 'black owned' the owner includes a lot of black women in her designs. She's into feminism and intersectionality. (I think that the right word, lol)

I'll post the rest tomorrow, since it's after midnight and I have to be up at 6

I'm going to buy a Brother's serger this week. I've been sewing for years idk why it's taken me so long...:patrice:
Which one? I have the 1034D, and I love it. If you're looking to get this one, check on amazon. Every so often they have it on sale on amazon (the lowest I've seen it was $150)
I want to get a coverstitch machine, but I think they're $500+
