@Fun Sized Psycho @Black Barbie i need help making a bandana out of 1 yard spandex fabric. any youtube to help me do this or shld i just get a female to help it dnt look dat hard...what material will i need or will siccors work?

Please allow my interruption, usually bandanas are around 25x25". Leave some on the ends to fold over on the wrong side and sew and you're done! Make sure to make it as absolutely square as possible otherwise some of the foldings and stuff wont look as crisp, I'm speaking from my own experience. Use a straightedge and some tailor chalk. I've got a big head though so I'd prob make a square around 30x30" after sewing.

straight edge is anything that has a straight edge, ruler, book, yardstick. clipboard, folder anything sturdy u can draw against. You dont need tailord chalf. u can use rdg chalk if u have sccess, just be sure to not iron on the drawings, itll set them in the fabric. I was at home depot yesterday and they sell bandanas at 22x22" fyi

Can anyone in here recommend me a new sewing machine to get? The one I am currently using is my grandmothers, from 1974. On the last couple sewing projects I have done things internally are getting louder and knocking, needles are breaking, etc, despite/ in spite of oiling. I've been thinking of getting either the Singer Heavy Duty or the Brother SE400/625 because I want to get my hands involved in embroidery, because I think it is very cool.

Mostly though, I make clothing. One of my friends that makes bags has the Heavy Duty and it cannot compare to his SailRite. I don't need all of that power the sailrite has though for my applications.

Maybe a better question would be to tell me why I should by the machine you have?

i worked with some similar stuff like under armour type, the best move is to just work slowly. i couldnt get seams straight because i was using too many layers and working too fast. If the material is real stretchy test out the stretch stitches instead of straight ones like i did the material will lay flat a lot better

Copped a Brother Project Runway CS5055 this evening. Gonna start off with hemming a few pairs of pants, and hoping that perhaps my daughter might take up some interest in sewing too.
