Machine came in today. Nice little piece of equipment. Been practicing on a few random pieces of fabrics around the house. Still not quite comfortable enough with it to attempt a pants hem yet. Thinking about copping a side cutter foot to give a nicer finish to the edges without actually getting a serger.

edit: Just said fukk it and tried a hem on some work pants. It turned out great :whew:

I ordered one off amazon and it arrived today. This evening was my first time ever using one, but I'm getting the hang of it. I've hand sewn plenty of things on some bootleg mcgyver shyt, but figured that a machine would be handy to have around the house. I'm enjoying it so far.

Sewing machines are definitely handy to have. Nowadays I mainly use mine to alter clothing I buy from stores but I used to buy a lot of vintage sewing patterns and recreate pieces from the 50s and 70s.

Yeah, I plan on using it mainly for hemming my pants. Finding shirts for myself is easy enough, but I always have trouble finding pants in my inseam.

One of my legs is shorter than the other from a motorcycle accident. I didn't take that into account when i hemmed my pants last night. Now one leg is obviously bunched a little, while the other leg is just chilling and looking dapper :snoop:

Next time, instead of taking one measurement, I'm going to do each leg individually. Lesson learned.

Do you have a seam ripper? You can rip the seam out and hem it the right length.

Yeah, i used it last night when i accidently sewed one of the legs to its other side :russ:

I've already cut and finished the raw edges, so I'm just gonna leave them as is. They're just work pants so I'm not really concerned about it.
