There's going to be a new legal debate about fitness for trial, in the upcoming years, and a fascinating debate about intent and wellness. Obviously, the shooter had intent to kill, knowledge of his action, took steps to carry out his plan, but there has to be something said about the fitness of someone who thought killing people at a mall, would stem the flow of immigration, or "restore the US". What do you consider a person like this? Mentally ill? But fit for trial? Diseased by hate and fanned by online communities of vile racism? All that, but what else? They seem to have lost all sense of reason, while having the state of mind to write a manifesto, post online, and go about their daily life. Like the "Influenza" defense. I hit my friend and we talked briefly, she is conservative leaning, and I believe her boyfriend is, but she is a thoughtful and smart person, who cites me as an influence on her beliefs. She did talk about how "some people" are wondering why people weren't carrying guns, which I barely commented on. It's just crazy how stuck people are on that good people with guns could save the world, in a targeted mass shooting, where someone unloads on unsuspecting bystanders with high powered weapons. A bunch of loons pulling out their open carry would just create an even bloodier shootout.

I dont care how many civilians have guns..theyre not stopping the government from being tyrannical. I dont buy that argument anymore. If the military decides to have a coup and rolls into cities with tanks u think civilians with guns are going to stop them?

We still need significant gun control laws. No automatic weapons whatsoever.

We should ban hunting too and to people who hunt. Hunters are sadistic and we've done enough harm to animals with urban sprawl and pollution. I want my theoretical kids and grandkids to be able to enjoy wildlife rather than look at books and see what used to live on the planet and are now extinct

They're mentally fit, almost all of the time. They're young and have been indoctrinated into fascist movements. This is why I always said to just immediately ban anybody bringing that stuff here for "debate." They don't care about losing debates, being proven wrong, looking stupid to most people. They just want their signal out there, reaching young men. They won't stop, you won't change their minds. Shut them down and bash their brains in. Then it's over. For a while.

Yes, but many of these are being handled at a state level, which doesn't have the legal framework for terrorism charges, and in fact, many of the terrorists who are tried in federal court, are not tried on terrorism charges, which I am not sure even exist, in the way the term is used. What was the man tried for the October 2017 Chelsela incident charged with? Or the bomber? I don't believe terrorism.
