Do you think Phee has a conflict of interest because of Unrivaled??
I'm not sure I'd call this a conflict of interest. Now if Phee worked in NBA management while also being an officer in the players union then imo that would be a conflict of interest. Unrivaled and any other outside work opportunities they take advantage of during the lockout is just the players exercising their options.Of course, which is why she should have stepped down as Player President long ago. It's a conflict of interest for any of them that play in Unrivaled or have a vested interest in it.
They have public support on their side, so it won't be called it, but behind the scenes it should for players that won't be able to play in Unrivaled or have that backup plan as they can't accept everybody.
The NBA and by extension the WNBA have been pretending that Unrivaled doesn't exist. The players should absolutely use Unrivaled (and any overseas opportunities) as leverage. The WNBA could easily end any issues with players working for outside entities by offering them a high enough salary where they could add some exclusivity into the player contracts. Right now, because pay is so low, it doesn't make sense for the players to even sign such a deal.Yea nobody in the mainstream media has really brought that up
Wooow

It came out during the All-Star break that the players not working in AU and Unrivaled is one of WNBA's demands. What's the difference between between athletes unlimited and unrivaled
Nikkas have no rap for AU

Another thing that needs to be brought it up it is that why is okay for a 19 year foreigner like Malonga to play in the WNBA but a pro ready 19 year old American can't. The UConn Mafia, college basketball fans, and the vets are going to avoid that topic like the plague.
Doesn't matter if the relationship is beyond repair. Both have an obligation to the league and players to figure it out even if it means Engelbert leaving after.
Engelbert was never going to admit that the reporting was true for obvious reasons.
From the New York Times Oct. 3rd OpEd piece on the WNBA:

Opinion | What It Would Look Like to Pay W.N.B.A. Players What They Deserve
Other professional sports leagues give their players roughly 50 percent of the revenue, but the W.N.B.A. players get less than 10 percent.www.nytimes.com

The big takeaways here are that the WNBA players are only getting around a 7% split in league revenue while their male NBA counterparts negotiated a 50% split of all "basketball related income".
The WNBA players need to force the league to open the books and negotiate a higher split of league revenue.

Yup, the sh-ts crazy. It's a byproduct of how successful the league has been the last couple years. League revenues shot up but the relative pay levels stayed the same so the players ended up getting a smaller piece of the pie. That's why the players been on one since the allstar break. From 11% to 7%, they went backwards
