I'm still in my late twenties, but if you say "artists" such as 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Waka Flocka, or any of these other corny ass nikkas that have yet to make a song about anything are "hip hop"...then YES, hip hop has passed me.

I'd really like one person to explain to me the "talent" that any of the above mentioned acts has.

Did a song called "Laffy Taffy" really come out? Seriously? You're calling that hip hop?

im an old head and i like all this shyt. it all serves its purpose. I think my main issue with the young cats is the extreme lack of substance. i mean there is 9:1 ratio of ignorant vs substance. I cant hate on alot of thenew shyt cuzz it BANGS. Nowadays thats more important than anythang. when u young and high itsa constant need for escapism and hip hop is full fledge escapism. at least mainstream. its all fantasy. nobodys doin the shyt they rap about. When you older, Life is more real. u not fuccin wit clubs, fuccin off dough, slangin dope, takin other niccas bytches. grown ups work and have family so this sounds redundant. But like i said THE shyt BANGS so u gotta nod to it.

Let's be 100 right now breh.

Is it that you don't like Trap music, or that you truly believe none of them are talented?

take 2Chainz for example, 10 years ago... he was nothing more than the tall DTP flunky in the back of the videos....he found his niche, honed his craft and then went on a heavy mixtape grind to get himself to the point where he is now.

like him or not, no untalented rapper could ever do that.... if that aint hip hop, not too much is.

Laffy Taffy came out, but so did "Getting Jiggy With It" and " Ice Ice Baby"

I understand your side of the argument, I honestly do. However you're saying that no untalented rapper could actually make it in the game...and that's just not correct. You're telling me every rapper that has "made it" to 2Chainz's level is talented? No. The dude is ignorant, he makes ignorant ass music that ultimately says absolutely nothing. I'm not saying every song needs to be introspective and deep on some Mos Def shyt, but at least give the song a coherent subject.

And most don't refer to "Getting Jiggy Wit It" or "Ice Ice Baby" as hip hop too often. Those were pop tracks. :beli:

You'd be hard pressed to find any rapper who was already almost a decade into his rap career, then re-invented himself and became a star.

Trap music doesn't really revolve around much other than crime,money,clothes,guns,drugs/liquor,cars,hoes,the block, the club and flexin... it doesn't need substance at all.

in general, the more ignorant trap music is, the better it is.:manny:

I'm a old head and I luv hip hop still. Before I get into why...I gotta chastize nikkas saying hip hop passed them bye.

Hip hop is my generations baby...HOW THE fukk CAN MY BABY PASS ME BYE?!

I will ALWAYS listen to hip hop first and foremost...fukk I look like listening "seriously" to that other shyt? Now a song or two from other genres gets play as a change of pace or when in the mood, but 99.8 percent of my rotation is hip hop.

Most you nikkas talking bout you outgrew hip hop were not true fans, yall were pop fans. Yall are those white guys who were going thru a "thing" but grown and running daddys company now. You have to rub elbows with people who never liked hip hop and you're SHAME that you liked hip hop.

nikka like me in the suit and tie world and still hip hop like a muthafukka...make them cacs nervous and some as politely as possible ask me what am I doing in their world. I make sure my grill show and make my lips ashy as possible as I inform them, "You can't judge a mans intelligence by his appearance". As they get to know me they realize my brain power dwarfs theirs!

Stop c00ning and being ashamed of hip hop.

See most of you don't know enough songs that show why hip hop is the best music form ever. You are stuck on what's on free radio. Update to XM...I'm listening to xm45 as I type this and bytch hip hop not dead! It just went back to how it was meant to be...to raw for radio.

You nikkas forgot or never knew that hip hop is people asking you, "What is that you're playing?" See yall listening to stuff everybody and their momma listening to. You shouldn't pull up next to a cac and they know who you playing! Most importantly, broads shouldn't know and recognize what you playing!

Everytime a bytch get in my truck, they ask, "Who's that?" Yall nikkas so busy simping these hoes yall have compromised your hip hop!

If a nikka not on his shyt he won't know what I'm playing either! But the shyt bumpin!

Hip hop was about puttin the sheep up on hot shyt...not following them..

Thats exactly what im sayin without beating a dead horse. Just know that 20yrs from now they're gonna praise the golden era and laugh at this one. They need to do a documentary on where hip hop has gone and where is it goin. From the mainstream all the way to the underground. fukk labels and how much husle or money being spent and look at lyrics and the actual music being made. No ego's or dikk riding or sales. Cause all that shyt is smoke screens. Besides ur tde's and joey badass who is talented right now. No trollin or bullshyt. Who can compete with the late 80's to early 2000's. And its the fact that none of ya young nikkas dont respect legends that paved the way for all these get rich quick single droppin nikkas who got on. And at the sametime im not hatin on wats out i kinda dont care whose hot now. Its just that none of these nikkas respect all the blood sweat abd tears that go into this hip hop music.

I'm 34 and I still love hip hop and always will. Mainstream hip hop for the most part has passed me by with the exception of a few artists but I've felt that way since early 00's so that's not a new thing for me.

There is obviously a lot less quality music being released these days but that doesn't mean there's none. If I get 5 or 6 good projects in a year that's a good year for me and last year I enjoyed more than that

Another issue as I've gotten older is I have less time to listen to music than I had when I was younger. When you have kids and work full time there's not as much time for hip hop but I am always checking for new stuff so I don't miss anything

I can't take away from the dude that he has finally become a bigger artist, and kudos to him for that. But, the man still has no talent. Does he have any quotable lines? And spare the ignorant beat-drops stupid ass punchlines. I mean some real quotable verses that make a man sit back and just be like "damn". fukk no. He doesn't have any of that.

Let's be real, 2Chainz is only successful...10 YEARS later, because there just isn't much competition anymore. He couldn't get any attention a decade ago because there were much better artists doing hip hop then.

"...the more ignorant trap music, the it is."

And THAT, is why I can't get on board with it. I don't do ignorant shyt. I don't do ignorant music.

I think its weird. I'm not 35+ or anything. If you really love something and enjoy it, you will like it in any era. You don't have to like every aspect but if you are into Hip Hop theres new shyt to get into.

Its like those YMCA weekend warriors who say they used to like basketball in the 90s when the game was 'more pure, more fundamentals' but act like the game is drastically different and an abomination.
