Chasing The Dragon
RD is/was similiar to fine wine.
That BUMS album was nice. I'm surprised you didn't like that from jump. And RBL was huge in the Bay in 1994. Surprised they were even on your radar. The BUMS were very exclusive to a niche, college radio type crowd. i bought that album and hated it. traded it. years later bought it again. now i like it.
i was a big gansta rap fan but getting the casual, gem star in the mouth, 40 below tims wearing chew stick havin' dude to appreciate a Spice 1 album was a chore. But it was waaaaaay easier than selling them an RBL Posse or Daytona Family record. lol.
the nikkas in the barber shop around your way dont speak for everybody. Maybe you forgot exactly how fukkin iconic Big was at the time son. Remember the 112 "Only You" joint, "Get Money" remix, both "One More Chance" remixes, "Flava in ya Ear", that Little Shawn joint "Dom Perignon", "B Side" etc. Jigga was respected as being extremely talented and charismatic, but i aint hear 1 thun, kicko,or gawd saying he was fukkin with Frank WhiteMan stop. People were saying Jay was on BIGs ass when big was alive and well. Again, I was there.
IWW is no less than 4.5 to me. I loved it then and I love it now. It did catch a lot of flack for all the reasons stated.well duh. that's exactly why it caught hell. and it isn't that damn good either. it's a solid 3.5...4 if you're a stan. but all this classic talk surrounding that album is utter bullshyt. it's almost absurd.
The lyrics were there though. And the production wasn't any more sellout than Ready To Die.Huge single with it girl Lauren and built on the hype if Illmatic. The biggie blueprint made it readily digestible to casual rap fans.
This isn't rocket science.
This is true - any change in the perception of IWW is natural.UNLIKE JAY THOUGH, NAS NEVER WENT ON A CAMPAIGN TO IMPROVE THE ALBUM'S STANDINGS. THE IWW ALBUM DID THAT ON ITS OWN. QUALITY EVENTUALLY SHONE THROUGH!!!!!

I consider it a classic. But it's not a universal classic. To me, I can't say RD is better than IWW or vice versa.Who said IWW was a classic? Even though some cats think it's nas best album, I think it was one of the many dope albums of 96 along with RD.
Crucial Conflict shyts on those fakketsAccording to that list Crucial Conflict's album was better than Hell On Earth and Iron Man...
I dont think thats a full list..
