I'll see you brehs tomorrow. No one cares about these moral victory thoughts but I think we should be encouraged that we lost this game on crazy Lillard 3-pt shooting and missed jumpers coming off of good sets. I don't anticipate if we keep running the same system Miller is running, that we'll continue to miss the shots we were missing tonight...and that will lead to better nights than tonight. Hopefully.
I'm gonna need Miller to shorten up this rotation though. No reason DSJR should be first PG off the bench. Also, he should be making Frank & Mitch a tandem that gets significant minutes together and running a specific defensive system with them in mind. Will be watching to see what he does tonight
I only watched the first half because these western conference games end too damned late for me to stay up, but the impression I got was that this is audition time. He hasn't had time to install much, so it's been a lot of simplification and just seeing how different players run the basics. I'd guess we see the broader changes (rotation tightens up and playbook expands a bit) at the end of the west coast trip. He'll have more time to install things and get guys comfortable.
DSJ is the most obvious one to lose his role. I could see Trier getting a rotation spot too, but he's gotta be better on defense to justify that even with his offensive game rounding to form. I assumed everyone's hands were tied on Randle during Fizdale's run, I'm gonna guess the same for Miller but...switching Randle to the bench and shifting Morris to the 4 would benefit everybody. Mitch and Taj swap places, Randle moves to a sixth man role and Knox or Dot takes the starting role so that spacing is fixed...that's my dream scenario but one I don't think any coach will be allowed to do until a new regime is installed at the top (and I think that'll wait until the offseason if I'm guessing).
