this is a losers mentality
if this is the route you wanna go, might as well run it back wit the same team as last year and just give da young guys more burn. that will result in some type of top ten pick.

no reason to bring al hortford over here for "leadership" that doesnt result in some type of success lol

we had that already with deandre jordan. eventually the players will tune out. what assets you think philly givin us for al fukkin hortford anyway?:mjlol:

i hope you understand that trade proposal is completely made up and not something thats actually on the table lol

ITS NOT AL HORFORD. ITS THE PICKS!!!

Yes it’s a made up trade but it’s exactly the mindset the Knicks are telling teams they are interested in taking this off season. We want your bad contracts for assets. Everyone killed us last year for not doing it.
If the Sixers feel like Horford isn’t a fit and need to get off him, how do you think they’re going to do that?

I think the problem with the hypothetical is that we don’t know what assets would be attached. Just a first rounder isn’t enough. People might think two first rounders is too ambitious. Does a first and our second back get it done? Korkmaz and a first (fits the young contributor and a first angle)? I think the challenge is figuring out at what point we would accept the contract and also if that point is realistic.

I Think the most optimal version of this is where the players are in a logjam. Warren and Snell always come to mind for me. Gain an asset, give the guy minutes and you could potentially gain another asset sending them to another team too. The giant contracts that get discussed the most don’t really offer that.

If the cap drop is on the high end, then we may be surprised by the types of contracts that teams are looking to dump. Brock Aller is the front office addition to keep an eye on; he’s supposed to be a cap expert with a track record for being really clever with his moves.

But this all brings me back to the wait and see approach. Depending on what the ask for cp3 is and what the reward for taking horford is...either move is the better choice to me. It’s all about what we send out and what we get back either way. These hypotheticals are hard to gauge at the moment.

Also there’s no tj Warren theft in anything we’re hearing yet. The closest thing to that would be the Oubre + 10th pick rumor which then converted to Oubre + 10 for our 8th pick...which changes the whole damned concept of that trade scenario lol

Would you do Horford, 21 in this years draft, our second that the Sixers own plus an additional future first for 26?

I spent half the season bigging up Kira which was kinda, sorta going out on a limb since he was slept on in early mocks when we started that bandwagon.

The other guy I’ve hyped as someone I really like under the radar is Desmond Bane. KFS newsletter today laid out exactly why I think this dude is such a good prospect. His whole game is projectable imo. It’s not an upside play like targeting a Ramsey or something but I think it’s a good value any time after the lottery...I have a similar feeling about grant riller in the second round. There’s no such thing as a sure thing in the draft but those two are worth the risk after a certain point in this draft.

Id still push for Korkmaz and temperature check other options. But that’s a move I’d entertain for sure. My whole offseason would be built on driving a hard bargain because we know teams don’t have many options.

Some of these trades are bugging just to get a draft pick they are willing to do so much when we shouldn’t just be stockpiling picks we also need to see what Mitch and RJ and this years young players are

Plan B if NY Knicks Strike Out in Free Agency - TBW

The Knicks’ Rebuilding Process Continues to Eat Its Own Tail

The Knicks don't understand how to rebuild in today's NBA

That’s just three that i found quickly in a google search. Not to mention the countless writers and nba analysts who ragged on us in all the basketball podcasts i listen to. Even the smart among us Knicks fans on the coli (i was not one of them) got tight when they saw the Warriors trade a pick to the Grizzlies to get rid of Andre Iguodala and said that shyt like that is what we should have done. I don’t know how taking on bad contracts hurts the development of RJ and Mitch. Especially when those assets acquired can help us land talent to really help them down the line.

My Pops Forever RIP
Starting to sound like this is the perfect offseason to apply pressure on RFA signings...

NBA Salary Cap To Drop Between $3 Million And $12 Million For 2020-21 Season

Add in the shortened offseason and I think teams will have to make faster decisions. Ingram and Beasley, help a team get under the cap with what’s left. If the teams match Ingram and Beasley; eat more bad contracts or look for guys that have held out because they’re getting low-balled.
Those teams aren’t threats to what you wanna do in free agency. They’ll just match what you offer. For those teams, keeping those RFA’s is probably plan A.

Make them match. The threat of the luxury tax on a cheap owner is what you’re banking on. If they match, so be it. But press for the best free agents for the team, then move on after.
