Yea I was a long way from home when that shyt dropped. I was G EEKED off it. I was shocked 2 see the response that people didn't rock with it n said he fell off FR FR. I thought it was an incredible album.

see what you gotta understand is, for most, that yeezus album was such a departure from what he had done years ago

for a lot of older heads

we remember Ye produced bangers like this

you hear how hard this shyt? :scusthov:

you hear how soulful this shyt is?!:whew:

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
Man, I remember being super disappointed when this dropped. Just a huge departure from the Kanye I came to love at that point. Completely left field. Ran it back recently and it sounded better. :ehh: Still not my cup of tea but the influence can’t be denied. Definitely shifted the genre for better or worse.

No doubt. But that was a lifetime prior to "Yeezus". By then the game had become beyond stale. If I recall thats around the time I first got into Future from his mixtape with Gucci.

We needed evolution.

@maxamusa

the lyrics on "I'm In It" are immature as hell :skip: but i always admired the production and he and his co producers switched the beat up near the end and how he sampled Latimore's "Lately"

also liked Bon Ivers vocals on it. :banderas:

maaan Ye never been a wordsmith like that anyway. Even with tracks like "all falls down" that were written flawlessly that aint the main draw.

it was

Change is great, but the change has to be great, ya dig?

I liked Yeezus when it dropped, cause it was different and it didn't sound like anything else in Hip Hop and it was needed to shake things up

when i listen back to it now, i still hear some cool moments but i have no longer desire to listen to the whole album from start to finish like i use too.

Word.

I've gone back and forth over the years

and even recently said 808's and Heartbreak

today i would definitely say Graduation and College Dropout are top 2. then 808's in the third spot.
Whats funny is I played Dropout nonstop when it dropped, but I go back to it less and less. I think its been almost a decade since I played that front to back.

but if I hear one 808 record I gotta play several jawns off the album

u worry bout the wrong thangs the wrong thannnnngs:noah:

That's true, but it helps complete the package :dame:

He's not a great rapper by any means at all, but his strength was his emotion, confidence (his big ego over shadowed his talent and persona), and being the "under dog" when he was rapping and being transparent at one point with writers like Ryhmefest and goofy ass Consequence, lol.

word, see for me, that album was my last year in high school

i had the mixtapes Ye had dropped before then and copped the album when it came out, so it's nostalgia for me.

but i also feel like, it has Ye's "statement" songs. "All Falls Down", "Through The Wire" (SWAN song), "Jesus Walks", "Slow Jamz"

and the album cut, "Two Words" with yasiin and Freeway!

i hear you tho, 808's as an album flows better i think, it helps that it doesn't have any skits too.

dawg Mos Def falloff hurt worse. BOBS had him looking like he was a GOAT contender. WTF happened :what:
With how fckin’ amazing BOBS was musically/lyrically/production was & then lookin’ @ what Mos Def did after that is a HUUGE letdown. One of the biggest falloff’s in terms of quality ever :yeshrug:
