I'm sorry but IMO Nash was barely a top 10 player those years and there are several PGs I woulda take over him. Billups and Parker just being two. He was a gimmick player in a gimmick offense.

Just remember that before he went to Phx, Nash was a fringe all-star that Dallas let go so they could sign Eric Dampier. Just think about that. How many league MVPs get thrown out the door so their former team can sign Eric fukkin Dampier.

That right there should tell you what Nash was worth in the NBA before joining Dantoni's gimmick offense.

Chauncey was great. let me say it HE WAS GREAT. Was he Nash, IMO No.

Also Nash was a legit 50% 40% guy. at the PG position.

What was Chauncey's best shooting year?

Billups was just as good a shooter. Look at his 3fG% and FT%. Both top notch. Plus he was CLUTCH and played defense. To me this is not even a question. Billups led his team to a ring and another finals appearance where they legitimitely coulda won again.

Nash never even made the finals let alone win a ring. I know you analytics nerds love to just live in the numbers. But for folks that actually watch the games, its laughable to suggest Nash could even see Billups.

He deserved those MVPs and this how I know. He was out 4 games at one point and the suns lost all 4 of those games by being blown the fukk out. It was like they couldn't even function with out dude.

you coulda plugged 10 other halfway decent PGs in that situation and they woulda performed just as good if not better than Nash. Remember that before Nash went to Phx at 30 years old. he was already on the other back side of his prime. and he had his best seasons post-30 in Dantonis offense. Before PHX he was a fringe all-star. After Phx a MVP. that is what i call being a product of a system.
