people in here talking about the lack of moves and how **instert current player** would've beasted, need to put things into context.

if you put LeBron in the '60s, you'd have to strip him of most of his moves, simply because they hadn't been invented yet.

its like when bill Russell said that he never saw a blocked shot until he blocked one. people need to think about these things before they look down on older entities for not being as advanced. in reality, the Oscars, russells, wilts, etc were THEE advanced chit back then. once you acquire an understanding of this, then go back and watch the footage or more than likely - the highlights, you'll understand the amazement.

so yea, I was never shocked whenever I heard an oldhead say that Oscar was a better guard than Jordan, or if they leave Jordan out of their goat list.

i'll say this tho. the only gripe I have is that the game was still type-segregated back then. should've been a lot more niccas in the league than there were.

So had not even invented blocks back then? :merchant:

The first crossover probably had them like :mindblown::demonic:

So with that logic can we say that a 100 years from now when their playing with bionic parts and they will look at the game we plan now and consider it inferior? :lupe:

I think a guy like Oscar probably would excel in today's game. To me, the question isn't if 1960s Oscar can ball with today's players. It's "If Oscar Robinson grew up in this era, could he ball like he did back then." Big difference.

Cream always rises to the top. So I say yes.

Also, if Lebron played in Oscar's era how much less would he score once they started calling that LeTravel?

100 years from now? more like 20 years.

people want to crown Jordan, but lets be real: a lot of those nba games when Jordan was in his prime 20-25 years ago look like struggle ball compared to random playground pickup games nowadays. still the goat era that I experienced tho.

Grant Hill was LeBron before LeBron | For The Win

:dwillhuh: why is he not in the Goat conversation?

That was his first six years too :heh: I can't even fathom :mindblown:

(Click on link to see the gif that shows the stats, i don't know how to post em on here :ld:)

Access is why. When is the last time you say a Big O highlight tape? Now, in no way does it take away from his greatness, but since we don't see him or his work, we tend to forget about him. We have stats without a lot of film and it de-validates his work in a way. It's hard to consider what we can't see. Same reason Jack Johnson is rarely considered the greatest fighter. We know what he did, but you'll be hard pressed to see them showing his historical clips before fights.

when you think about how players back them played in chucks and didn't have nowhere near the training and health regimen players today have, plus all the development they get in AAU ball/HS basketball factories before they even get to college, IMO it levels the playing field for the older players.

In terms of access, I think NBA tv is dumb as fukk for not doing a whole bunch of shyt with all the footage they probably have. NFl network does top 10 countdowns of everything and plays a lot of homage to its history while NBA tv plays open court till the end of the universe. At least in the offseason these nikkas should be all over classic pre-1980 games

I saw some of Oscar Videos on youtube, and to be honest his game looks awkward and ugly as fukk. Sorta like the point guard version of Metta World Peace.

The players that were guarding him were... :snoop: I've seen tougher D on bball games at Kids tv show

lol @ if "lebron played in that era!!" shyt Luke Walton would be too good to handle.

the NBA treats the 1970s as the Dark Ages. They want nothing to do with that, and its sad.

The 60s, its only Lakers and Celtics, nothing else.

The NBA does the worst job at telling its history. Its why you see embarrassing posts saying Oscar would struggle in this era.

Come on bruh, nikkas had not even invented the crossover yet :merchant:

If you put oscar in the era with the training and supplements and techniques available he would have done work.

:childplease: how u gon comparisonize slavery era players who rarely dribbled between their legs and always looked down at the ball when they dribbled, to the athleticism and swaggarian nature of jordan, pippen, lebron, kobe, jr rider, etc???????

I remember Kobe saying he went back and watched video of Oscar and picked up moves and how he played in the post. So don't say these cats back then didn't have skill or moves.

LeBron is the GOAT of the so called watered down era. Everybody yells the talent is too watered down, but LeBron is the greatest.

But somehow the talent of the 60's and 70's don't count because lack of talent.

You kids will use any pointless excuse to validate your weakass arguments.

Do I think LeBron is better than Jordan? Absolutely. I also think, Magic, Bird & Kobe are too. Never seen the Big O play.

"so called" watered down era? Then what the fukk was the 90's? A lake?

The fukk is you talking about, gramps?

These fukkboys say the NBA needs to contract because it's too many teams and talent is devoid, yet these same fukkboys say LeBron is the GOAT and old players don't matter because of so called lack of competition.

The early 90's were shyt as far as talent. the mid to late 90's seen the birthing of quite a few talents.
