Been waiting to absorb Victory when the visuals drop so this will be a good hold over, bunch of posters who's opinions I respect saying this is dope and even worthy of being considered a sequel. I didn't have high hopes for this matching the energy of vol 1 so I'm looking forward to sitting with this today.

I like it, worthy follow-up to the original IMO.
I just finished listening to act 1 of the album and it's definitely a great start and has the vibe of the original, reminiscent of his first 3 albums actually, which was a great 3 album run imo.
Flames, just like Daz last few projects.

Wish he had better help on the mixing, but fukk this shyt slaps.
Yeah Daz been on a good run for a minute, it seems like he really took his time piecing this album together from what I'm hearing so far, hes teased this sequel for almost 2 decades now and it seems like he might have been holding back records that fit the vibe he wanted for this project, Carlos Mcswain passed away in 2018 so at the least elements of that song date back to at least then.
this actully done well? the orignal is a fukkking gem, the last great death row album imo
Essentially the last proper solo album from the label too. All the others came years after the recording dates or were pieced together without input from the artist.

The only thing that disappointed me about this track is based on things Soopafly and Kurupt say in their verses Rage was supposed to be on this track. Hopefully Daz will do a G-Mix for this joint with Rage and Snoop, although maybe Daz and Snoop have fallen out again.

Calculate The Time is clearly a Suge diss.
I dont mind Mac Shawn narrating but his second interlude coulda used at least one Daz.verse, that beat is hard. Production is really good so far imo, it's got nostalgic elements of prime era dpg/death row beats.

Great that Set Trippin had some cutting and scratching, not familiar with the DJ but that's an element I wish DPG as a whole would revisit more. Daz, Soopafly, DJ Jam, Pooh, Warren G. and a couple others all used to hit the decks on tracks pretty regularly during that first decade where as now its pretty rare.

Yo is Daz actually on the boards again instead of using cheap internet producers?
Album definitely sounds like it so far, my guess is its Daz and the usual suspects for the most part. Not sure if any platform has the proper credits, Spotifiy where I'm listening doesn't.

He hasn't really used "type beat producers" on a solo project since 2018's Smoke Me Out, which was more of a compilation anyways, it also came out on the heels of Dazmatazz double album which is vintage Daz.

For the most part all the projects of the past 5 years has been Daz working with Ivan Johnson who plays alot of the live instrumentation, Amplified and Soopafly.Outsode producers aside from the aforementioned core has been producers like Havoc, Dae One, Battlecat, Shorty B and other mainstay beatsmiths.

Smoke Me Out, The collab with Gipp and the underwhelming DPG4Life was really the only projects where he was outsourcing Temu producers.

Need to check this out.

The first one was a classic! Copped that on CD back in the day, when it dropped. Curious to see what Daz did with this one.

:ohlawd:
I'm just about 2/3rds in and he basically followed the blueprint of the original structurally and replicated it. Switchin Lanez and the joint with B-Legit both sound like they coulda been released in 97, vintage Bo Roc runs, paying homage to D.O.C., good to hear Prince Ital Joe on a Daz track again, he had some Big Pimpin vocals on a track recently too, Rest In Peace, Lil C-Style has an unreleased verse and some vocals live from the pen on Switchin Lanez, side note - the new Techniec album is flawless imo and has an unreleased LBC Crew track on it, RIP Bad Azz, Tech and Bad along with Tray Deee are missed on this sequel as Tha Gang was an integral part of the original album.

I woulda liked to have seen Rage, Snoop, WC and CJ Mac on this as well but I will say in lieu of some of volume 1s guest features we instead get Daz solo records which I'd much prefer vs having a bunch of randos or current new names.

If Daz doesn't completely fukk off the 3rd act this album has the makings of a classic Daz album, I'm just about to jump back in at the Dogg Pound track and so far up to this point theres zero skips.

tbh even tho they all had nice verses Rage would have wiped the floor with them if she had a verse on it

but you right
