Yall arent hard to fire? :comeon:
Government employees are a mess because there is no real accountability...who is over their heads worried about the customer/profits? Its bureaucracy everywhere.

What do you do for the government?

I work for the TSA and we are worried about passengers and budgetary issues.

Maybe the real problem is that the private sector should be paying their rank and file more money. :sas2:

But of course the average American idiot is a crab trying to pull someone DOWN to their level. That's what this nation has been reduced to.
there are a good amount of high paying jobs...you just have to be worth it.
Nobody is going to pay you out the ass to take an order, or do something a computer can do faster.
Its common sense.

Imagine if people werent concerned w/ drug officials and their jobs...or all the free money the military gets...we would probably already be done w/ "the war on drugs".

One of the biggest myths in the entire history of man. Also extremely ignorant of current news:

Apple, Google, Intel and Adobe admit to having an agreement to not poach one another's employees, yet denied that driving down wages was their motivation for the collusion, weeks before the trial based on a class-action lawsuit was due to begin.

Four major technology companies settled a lawsuit that alleged they conspired to keep salaries low in Silicon Valley on Thursday, only weeks before the high-profile trial date, Reuters reports.

I'm sure those engineers and computer scientists, most of whom who have masters and PhDs, and extremely valuable skills and experience, should instead ALL become CEOs.

So private companies don't use Federal tax dollars? Man, get the fukk out. :camby:

I'm a Federal employee and the last thing I am is overpaid and hard to fire.

Might be true for you, but to me with the experiences I've had across several agencies, it seems like a ridiculous statement. The stories I could tell of these lazy overpaid government sloths who engage in the most ridiculous of behavior with only so much as a slap on the wrist.

I joked about this in the DEA-Facebook thread, but I was serious. . . when you fukk up, especially as a higher up, you retire early with a full pension or you're moved to another low-profile office with a promotion.

And workers are paid too much because raises are more so a mandatory formality as long as you've jumped hoops to qualify for the next GS level. I never saw merit raises that were truly merited by outstanding work.

After one year on the job, my salary increased $12,000 and I spent the majority of my time reading magazines. I did almost no work and that wasn't by choice. I shot the shyt every day with a group of guys that acted more like a fraternity than a group of professionals.

@DEAD7 It would be nice if you added some content to the articles you post. I can surf the internet on my own :upsetfavre:
:ehh:
I'm pretty much where @scrilla is.

personally I'd be more worried about there being hundreds if not thousands of bureaucratic jobs that exist that should no longer exist due to technological changes than employee pay. there are many jobs that should have been cut a long time ago due to inefficiency, but haven't due to slow institutional change.

and :russ:@ the "more like the private sector is underpaid" comment. Those third party value assessments get me every time.

exactly...nobody.
Everyone in government is mostly concerned w/ keeping their position.
The only time you will see someone in government lose their position/job is if someone gets exposed (and even then, there is a fall guy), or if someone in that position goes against the grain.
Otherwise, they are all just trying to maintain the status quo.

Unfortunately they only know how to fix problems by throwing more money at the issue..which makes it easier for people & corporations to take advantage.
