Honestly basketball players don’t show the same grit they used to because a lot of them are kids from the suburbs who are the sons of former nba players or just priveledged and grew up where grit just wasn’t necessary. (Not a diss, I’m glad more black players don’t have to come from the ghetto.) NFL is more so people who came from those environments, so they are a lot tougher…You look at the players who came from it and on the court they are a lot more aggressive and play every day like they have something to prove. Ant-Man for one. But at the end of the day, when it’s the playoffs I think all these guys play they asses off. So it’s fair to criticize the players for the all star game and the regular season with lack of defense. But playoffs they lock in. But the nba has also contributed to it, by making the game focused on high volume scoring removing hand checking and calling a foul for fukking everything. So I think guys just tune out and focus on what the nba has promoted… That’s why basketball in the Olympics flows better. They allow more physical play..People blame the players and it’s partly fair, but the nba contributed to this as well. It’s still a good product when it matters though and I think the top players do still play defense .

How many times do we see players given techs for just talking shyt to each other? Hell, players can’t even dunk on someone and stare them down after without it being given a tech.

I was at that Rockets-Heat game when Amen Thompson & Tyler Herro had the little altercation. Like 6 people got ejected and multiple players got suspended and there weren’t even any punches thrown

How are we blaming the players for something the league does not want to exist? It’s fine criticism to have but blame has to lay at the foot of the league office imo
