So "One Mic" isnt a hit? "Made U Look" isn't a hit? "I Can" never reached the top 15 on the charts?![]()
Even barring that WHEN did hit singles become more important than a hit ALBUM

U naming songs from the last time Nas had hits we talking post-2002So "One Mic" isnt a hit? "Made U Look" isn't a hit? "I Can" never reached the top 15 on the charts?![]()

The album got Plat for shipping 1M copies. What @Ziggiy is saying is that based on the criteria. Nas went plat with SD. Yall tryna use the fact that it was a double album. Which would be literally false and against their certification rules and standards. So. For whatever reason Nas was certified plat for SD. Using the fact that it was a double disc shouldn’t be the reason. And would render what ur saying as a lie. Even @ISO tried to use the double album shyt at one point now he’s saying it only shipped Plat. Which one is it? And if u got some inside info bro. Break it down for us how his album is certified platinum despite only selling 750k.

nikka I just told you rap changed up like 3-4 times from IWW through God's Son and he put out hits through those times so what makes anything post 03 so different? You guys that emotional where you can't comprehend?
Nas is an all-time great because the first half of his career he had some classic/very good work. These last 20 years ever since after Stillmatic I would say mostly misses. Most MC’s second half is noticeably weaker tho so it’s no huge knock on him. I just can’t put him in my top 5 all-time![]()
Singles matter that’s what gives an album legs and that’s what ppl mostly consume.Even barring that WHEN did hit singles become more important than a hit ALBUM![]()
No doubt. It’s the emotional attachment for cats. I just call it how I hear itThis is true.
But it's one of those things that people don’t like hearing, lol. Nas is in my Top 10, but things definitely changed after Stillmatic. Before that, with the exception of a couple of weird tracks like "Dr. Knockboot", he had a pretty much untouchable God-level output and classics.

You have to be on top to ever fall off so if I say you’re not making good music anymore to my ears it’s not even disrespect. You can’t be on top forever. You’re right about Redman. Muddy Waters one of my favorite albums of all-time but I’d be lying big time if I told you I’m excited to hear Muddy Waters 2They get hype! Very emotional about Nas.
And I get it, but it's about the music. I can be honest when my favorites fall off. Redman was my guy before he even dropped his first album, but when he fell off, I was honest about it. You could be a lifelong Nas fan too, but if you tell certain dudes that Nas fell off, they're ready to pop the trunk on you.
