You know this proves my point right ? Can’t even bring yourself to praise Kyrie hitting the biggest shot in NBA history. Another cheap ring earned by a super team BTW . :mjlol:

Exactly. A block, a 3 pt while already leading, scoring 16ppg on terrible close range shooting the finals 3 games of a series, all seemingly better than scoring the most clutch points in the history of basketball :laff:

Overall stats:

Pau Gasol: 18 ppg, 11rpb, 47% FG, 72% FT, 2bpg
Kyrie Irving, 27ppg, 4apg, 46/40/93 shooting splits

Games 5-7

Pau Gasol: 16ppg, 14rpg, 41% FG, 63% FT
Kyrie Irving: 30ppg, 52% shooting, hits the biggest shot in Finals history in Game 7

Kobe in game 7: 6-24
Lebron in Game 7: 9-24

Cleveland down 3-1 in the series, G5 is tied at halftime.

G5 (elimination game) 2nd half stats:
Lebron 16pts on 50% shooting
Kyrie 23pts on 63% shooting

G5 (elimination game) 4th qtr stats:
LeBron: 5 pts on 27% shooting
Kyrie: 12 pts on 55% shooting

Somehow Pau Gasol saved Kobe, yet Kyrie was just riding Bron's coattails. :unimpressed:

Anybody still saying Pau "bailed out" Kobe while shooting 12-30 over the last 2 games needs to kill themselves.

Kyrie put up 30 twice in the 2016 Finals, plus a 40 point game.

If Pau had ever scored 40 in the Finals, the Lakers would've smooth blown Boston out.

Five star thread. Kyrie went head to head with the first unanimous mvp of the league, averaged almost 30 points, hit the game winning shot, yet gets called a loser by the ku klutch klan. Kyrie was infinitely better than pau was during any finals, yet the thought of him even receiving one vote is egregious to LEgbtqia.
Tell me what Ky has ever done as a first option :russ:

This specific thread has never been made iirc, I checked :yeshrug:

No arguing needed, someone needs to give a logical breakdown of how 2001 Kobe and 2016 Kyrie were "carried" yet 2010 Pau saved Kobe.

Because those are the facts, bytch ass nikka. 2-7 on 5 pts while Kyrie put up 12 pts on good efficiency. In the biggest qtr.

Bron scored most of his in the 1st half when the game was tied, Kyrie scored most of his in the 2nd half when the win was secured.

Cherry picking stats to make your dumbass point only makes you look like a clown.

Especially when u choose one of the GOAT finals game to nitpick from. And lol at the 4th quarter being “the biggest quarter” like it was even a close game

Advanced Stats
Game Score for NBA Finals

Kyrie 19.1(Bron 26.5)
Pau 18.6 (Kobe 18.7)

PER
Kyrie 25.6 (Bron 33.4)
Pau 25.3 (Kobe 24.5)

However, that Celtics defense was better than the Warriors (by the time of the playoffs imo)

Defense was tougher so I dont knock Bean for it. However, its also underrating just how good Pau was against that defense.
Kobe stans only pay attention to scoring lmao

GREAT THREAD

AND LETS NOT FORGET, THE LAKERS VS BOSTON SERIES CAME DOWN TO DEFENSE.. WHICH KOBE WAS BY FAR THE BEST DEFENDER ON THE FLOOR

UNLIKE THE CAVS VS GS SERIES, WHICH WAS OFFENSE ORIENTED.. AND KYRIE WAS THE GO TO SCORER

"THATS THE ONE THAT MADE ME GOAT"

Kyrie didn’t play in the conference finals. Lost In 5 to the Bucks the following year.

He was second fiddle to Durant in Brooklyn

I think they were all really strong 2 options. I saw the game live, and while it was awhile ago, I remember pau being really strong defensively and making big plays that helped them win a game that nobody was really shooting well. Beyond stats. Was Kyrie a better 2 option than pau? Yeah probably. But his role was drastically different.

How can a player who was regarded as a Top 5 player be considered a “really strong 2 option”? :mjlol:

Are you talking about Kobe? I was talking about his time with Shaq.

One day the usual suspects will start saying that Pau was better than Kobe just like some now say Pippen was better than MJ :dead:

I've always been a big Gasol fan, but his impact is obviously being blown up to diminish Kobe. Ironically, Kobe had WAAAAY better stats and much more impact during the Lakers threepeat than Pau ever had, but somehow then he was "carried" by Shaq :jbhmm::dahell::comeon:

Yea I got Lebron as my number 2 and Kobe 3 all after MJ. But the Kobe disrespect been going on for far too long. I remember that narrative. People didn’t want him to get titles after Shaq and didn’t think he would. So they acted like he didn’t carry that team to the finals. Like even when he misses he was an attracting nothing but double teams leaving everybody as open as they could possibly be. Bro averaged 28.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists. NBA media is the worst in all of sports to me. NFL , golf, soccer, hockey , and even boxing don’t shyt on the legends like nba media. Warriors I think were a superior team, but LeBron had a superior talent to Paul which of course was needed for them to win. So why Kobe credit get taken away for a far less skilled player who simply played his role
