Honestly, if you're in it just for that, try something else. You're gonna drive yourself crazy because it is also constant learning.

I'm 32 and never had a job I loved or was passionate about, I chalked it up to the game, but I will put in the work and make myself at least tolerate it and be happy from the lifestyle the job offers.

The Truth
It comes down to two things. Personality and training

Most jobs don't want to waste hours training people. And this is across a lot of industries. They want to plug and play new hires. Nobody wants to train people because it takes away from their other workload, or they may be perceived as a threat. Personality goes along with culture. If your personality doesn't fit, then it's going to eventually be an issue.
Seems to be that way

Even around me, most people rather talk than work just to justify being there.

I’m not complaining, just saying. That thought process is one reason why a lot of these companies IT infrastructure sucks.

It is what it is though. They also don’t want to train in fear of you taking another position for more money

:dead: OP I respect the hustle, fukk them humans that negged you, and I understand man. Heads hurting out in the field. shyt, as somebody with IT experience, I just honestly gave up on the whole chasing that dream, because the suits aren't hiring, they are fukking with the pay, they are laying out folks at alarming rates, and using AI to shyt up issues and error, while the ones that can do it for a portion of the buck get the shaft.

Its a cold dystopian world, but we will make it breh.

Also....breh let me asked you this....what other traits that you are known for? Like do you have any sort of passionate projects or ideas for yourself to make bank?

I'm one of those types of folks that always preach to follow dreams. If you are deep into cybersecurity, why not do content creating involving it? Maybe a podcast concerning the abilities of fixing up PCs and raise awareness to those that need it.

Bottom line, I don't want you to just be like "fukk it this market is dead, let me move on", but more so...regroup and use your credentials to build something greater.

Right now, I'm going back to writing, making music, and just focusing on my health as the wait for my disability can be a bih, but I still am pushing through. Don't give up on that hope of making it in such an industry, just make the industry come to you...

this topic title is an indictment of TLR. the only way a legit question would get attention is to have either PAWG or FBA in the title and he said fukk it i'm going with both.

It really sucks but its just the way of the world I guess. A reflection of life in general. You want knowledge and enlightenment from the ones with wealth of it, but they won't give you a sip or got "better" things to do.

So you reach out to the dirtbags and lowlifes (sorry TLR but shoe fits get a matching purse :dead: ), and they will give you shyt but the ones that are semi sober will help you in the right direction.

Reminds me of when I tried to play bass guitar. I went to this music store in Philly asking for lessons and the pretenious pricks just treated me like I was invisible :francis:

Fast forward and changing my steez. I had gain knowledge from ear and still learning. Sometimes you gotta do for self or hope for the right people to guide you in the right direction.

People always say I would make a great DJ. I was always given the aux on trips and put people on to music and I can sometimes even predict the blends when I go out. Besides that, I do BJJ play basketball and weight lift and read. I make some money on the side helping people find jobs and with resumes. I always was a strong writer and avid reader but I felt the field didn't pay similar to Dj'ing.

I appreciate the advice. I hope you return to full health and push through. You have really good things you are working on on the side.

I'm a recruiter at a law firm that recruits for all non legal roles at the firm. I've actually hired a fair amount of people for the different IT teams since I been here and I've built a rapport with some of the managers. I've hired the : End-User Computing Engineering Sr. Engineer, Information Security Operations, Sr. Engineer and not to mention I interviewed and selected a summer intern who just graduated in May and got the IT Application Development job. Fresh out of college, and her salary is damn near almost mine, and she's fully remote. I go in 4 days, my job isn't bad but I want more.

All the hiring managers gave me advice and my job is really good with internal promotion and transitioning teams, but unless they really really like me, my skills have to match up. As a recruiter, I can see everyone's resume's and certs and I don't have any of that. I also applied for the SAN's cyber institute last year and this year. Last year made it to the final stage and didn't get selected. This year, didn't even get past the test.
Not many people I know had an easy transition into cybersecurity. I took a huge paycut and had to relocate in order to find my first cybersecurity job.

Your job sounds pretty laid back. Just so you know cybersecurity jobs tend to be much more stressful and time consuming. Especially the more money you make. Work life balance is almost non-existent.
