Penny was more athletic than Magic as well as being a much better scorer with more go to moves and better shooting ability. Magic's advantage as a passer can't make up for Penny's advantage over him athletically and as a scorer.

Come on man. Penny was a very good player for a couple of years but thats about it. Tmac was also a very good player for a few years but just because they were very good players for a few years doesn't make them the most talented ever.

Also as for Penny being a better scorer than Magic I may agree only because scoring was never Magic focus. Having said that Penny highest ppg was 21.7, Magic highest ppg was 23.9. But lets be clear Penny in no circumstance is any where in the same breath as Magic. Magic knew how to make plays as a rookie than Penny to this day still probably wouldn't know how to make. That is a lot more to basketball than grabbing the ball and trying to go one on one.

You gotta use context ,magic averaged 24 ppg in 86-87 when pace was 101 possessions a game that’s equivalent of today’s pace

penny averaged 22 ppg in 95-96 where the pace was 92 possessions a game. Penny was a better scorer than magic was

It'd be a lot easier for you guys to just admit you don't like Stephen Curry than to continue to disrespect his greatness like this.

And no he's not an undersized shooting guard. He's just a point guard who is also the best shooter ever. Why are ya'll taking away from him because he's better at shooting than passing? Doesn't mean he isn't a good passer or that he ain't a PG.

Annoying.

The most athletically gifted ones were Rose and Westbrook. In terms of skill it's Curry and Kyrie.

Penny is somewhere in the middle of them. It really depends on what you consider "talent".

I don't really consider skill to be talent, it takes hours upon hours to develop skill but anyone can do it if they put in the work.

First off, Penny played in the mid-to-late 90s before the combo guard era took off, so obviously his point total as a point guard was skewed.

The Miami series gives you a better indicator of acoring potential.

Also, fukk off with the "Curry isn't a good passer takes". Act like he didn't average 8 assists and lead the Warriors to the playoffs with no other all stars in 2013 and 2014 before y'all gassed up Klay and Green.

This over glorified view of Penny comes up every year

He was good but never the best even before the injury

He never scored more than 23 points and 6 dimes

Defense was ok
yeah cuz Nike was pushing the "lil Penny" campaign so hard that every kid in the mid 90s wanted be penny. these kids are grown up now :manny:

Penny is overrated.

He was gifted athletically before his injury but like a lot of injured players, people inflate their greatness on some "what if" shyt...

He was good before he got hurt. But by no means was he some generational leap forward in terms of talent at that time.

This.

Take away his height and how can anyone possibly say he's more talented than a CP3 or a Steph? People were going crazy over him when he came out because he had legit point guard skills and athleticism at nearly Magic's height, NOT because he was showing some unprecedented new level of skill.

Just as you can't feel the rhythm in music, you cacs can't see the genius in real hoopers.

Doesn't surprise me. I've yet to meet a cac with solid basketball takes.

AI and Steph are SGs no matter how much yall try to make them pure point guards
Steph hardly brings the ball up court and the offense runs through the forwards at the top of the key
I dont see how its even a debate... Kerr puts Klay and Steph off ball where they are most dangerous
you're better off just playing sides with them instead of chasing them around, but then they cut to the top of the key with the center or forward and just shoot from behind him anyways

Imagine trying to guard a 6'7 dude whos long and fast with a jumper that actually plays Pure Point

lol at dude saying magic wasnt a great ballhander jesus christ my guy

Steph hardly brings the ball up? :mjlol:

Stop with the “pure” PG shyt don’t pigeonhole the position :camby:

Magic’s handle was wack he used his wide base to protect the ball would often bring up the ball posting up, didn’t change directions well, Bulls had Scottie Pippen full court pressuring his ass.

When I think of handles Magic is nowhere near the top.

You never watched Penny play when he was younger and played point.

You've seen highlights vids

You have no context for what you're watching in those videos
