A lot of the posters here probably didn't grow up with a father, and so they never learned how to love/respect another man. Its sad that embracing another man is

viewed as submitting to that man. Its as if some of these dudes can only view another black man as either a threat or competition.
Who is embracing whom?

I get what you're saying, the intent is positive.
In any man's life the relationships he has with other men (his peers, his competition) are by far the most important because they're the most developing.
But that's another subject.

When it comes to how this "brotherly love" is displayed, I don't think it needs to be through overly affectionate gestures but rather through meaningful actions.
I don't need to write love letters to my best friend, or hug and kiss whenever we meet, or say "I love you dawg".
In fact we can forgo all of that: when he gets involved in an accident, I drop what I'm doing to come to his aid; if we're out and about and he gets jumped, I got his back (mothafukkas are getting stomped); if he happens to die prematurely leaving wife and kids, I'll make sure they'll want for nothing.
That's love, that's friendship; he is my bro. We don't need to belly-dance in order to be cognizant of that.
Why is it that you're only capable of showing compassion to another black man when bad shyt happens to him?

That's a posed photo, not some dudes celebrating a win. That pose is strategic. They probably sat in a studio for 2 hours getting that shot, so you KNOW it came out looking exactly like the photographer wanted it to look.

Nah, not just that shot. They took multiple photographs in various poses, and a Vanity Affair editor was probably helping the photographer select scenes. They put several on the table in a boardroom and proceed to vote on the ones they liked the best. Still not a good look. So I agree with you there was possibly some strategy to get a pose like that. Consciously/Unconsciously, they were trying to figure out how can we feminize Creed/Black Rocky? :francis:

This Michael B. Jordan Photo in Vanity Fair Has People Upset — Here's Why

cacs :martin:

And dude is facing towards Mike? :mjlol: Combine that by the way his hand is cupping his head and it screams suspect. He's rubbing his head like it's his mom or something

I'm 32yrs old. I played football from the age of 6 all the way through college, wrestled from 8th grade to junior year in HS, basketball from 5th grade up to junior year in HS, swam for 4 yrs, waterpolo 1 yr, baseball for 3yrs, soccer for 2, track for 2, tennis, boxing and kickboxing....

Never has a man touched my head like that. :camby:

The dudes arent gay but the photo is pushing it. I wouldn't touch my brother in the way this photo is taken.

:jbhmm:

But one can assume you have had your ass slapped by men on multiple occasions

I don't get this. Why is embracing a man more accepted during sports? Is it the perceived masculinity that comes with playing the sport?

A Villa Straylight.
Serious? Compassion implies concern towards someone else's misfortune: if there is no misfortune, there is no need for compassion.
You kind invalidated your own statement.
It's easy to be a friend in happy times: friendship is tested during adversity. If I'm your friend at you lowest, would I then be otherwise when you're prospering?
You fukked up in answering him. Only an actual man would understand your statment.
