It Was Written had great beats

Nas has tons of good albums with good production

Does he have some mediocre beats/albums sure so does everyone

The people who say this id bet anything haven’t listened to much Nas outside of his hits

They aren’t interested in the truth they’re interested in pushing an agenda

I mean he’s not exactly wrong

Hit boy is not a bad producer at all, he definitely has great beats…but lost in all this excitement over ‘Omg new Nas’ is that we got 5 albums and not 1 is classic or unskippable. Maybe not even a 4.5 micer. It’s more about the blessing of getting new Nas music, more about quantity than pure quality.

Production wise there is no ‘Be’, no Almost Dry, no hell hath no fury, not even a 4:44. Dudes like Alchemist, madlib, Pharrell etc have better batting average on fully produced albums. You get 5 cracks at it with Nas you supposed to have at least 2 classics

Now in Hit boys favor he hs a more diverse sound than those guys. His range is crazy, he doesn’t have a signature ‘sound’. But the potential downside to that is I you just KNOW a hit boy produced album is gon have a bunch of beats you don’t like and don’t even fit Nas

Wheter they are classics or not putting out 4 or 5 dope albums in a row 30 years in the game is unprecedented in hiphop and should be commended

Nas is the only artists held to the standard of his first album which is arguably the best hiphop album ever and anything less then that is somehow a failure

He’s not making a Illmatic or It was Written anymore people need to get over it and just appreciate him somehow still making some dope music after all these years

Nas type of rapping don't fit hitboys beats yea it be some.good stuff there but not exactly classic hip-hop replay.value type stuff so the mid label is pretty accurate...there's lack of soul in those beats

This is the stuff I don’t get. You can hear literally soul instrumentals and samples in the KD series and even here on this new. He did with Benny too

I just feel like people are trying to say he’s unauthentic cause he didn’t come into the game like that. But since the Chauncey Hollis tape I feel like he’s shown it

I hope Nas trolls everyone and drops 2 more of these with HitBoy this year.

Thats the thing Nas ain’t trolling. The man said himself multiple times that this is all inspired music he’s making. Hit Boy has been able to sonically unlock something within Nas that no producer ever has.

I think Pete Rock is just insane lmao. Like seriously his complaints even with the Illmatic shyt makes NO sense. Thats why the lawsuit was never actually filed

In my opinion the above are all 8-10 level beats

His other joints to me are like 5-7 and that’s where he loses me. I also hate how he has his beats mixed. The drums never really hit like they should. It is what it is. He’s an 8/10.

A man of many talents but unfortunately, a master of none.

SOHH ICEY MONOPOLY

Yall really not trying to hear Nas on shyt like this anymore? :dahell: bet let me just stay quiet cause we obviously caught up in the moment, all praises to Hit for bringing Nas out that SLUMP and making TRULY modern classics but we need Nas on Pete Rock and Alchemist a few more times God. I personally dont think Premier has it like that anymore so if I want to hear Legacy Nas Im going for those two. Especially Pete tho

All the videos linked are recent too no super old school shyt neither, this sound could still fit Nas in 2024

Hit Boy is his new Salaam Remi. Halfway kidding. Nas is doing what’s best for Nas. I don’t have a problem with it. They should actually be considered a group at this point.

So many ‘older’ rappers in the later part of their careers would have been better served linking up with one producer and making solid projects for their fans. Instead a lot of those guys blew their budgets chasing radio play and trends and still didn’t get anything to add value to their catalogues.

And then you have guys that just don’t put out music at all or when they do they completely cheap out on beats and effort.
