Battlefield 4 900p is eh the PS4 was cool, who cares if knack and killzone sucked. I get 180 more "p" my nikka.

And why would anyone get a 4k system to use on a 1080p tv :wtf: How are Sony gamers gonna afford a 4ktv when they gotta rebuy ps3 remakes :mjpls:

:mjlol:

you can't even afford brand new games

we know for sure your tv is 720p

I think this was timed well..

The price on 4k TVs are dropping like crazy and will be insanely cheap at black friday.

4k is slowly becoming the standard and with the Scorpio release being like a year away - they are shifting the attention to 4k ownership. The OLED 4k sets are still at the $2000 price point but they are dropping as well..

The logic is if you can afford this system - then why are you using a 1080p LCD panel to game on it? - Which makes sense

I just wish he'd quit pretending that they're gonna have a console that can do 4K well. They know damn well it's a struggle to do 4K unless you turn everything down and run it at half the framerate with dips in the 20s.

This maybe true for parts of America but not around the world. Then again M$ is dead outside of the states do I guess it doesn't matter.

This would be great if I didn't already post the stats. They expect it to be 10% by 2018. 10 fukking percent.

People were bytching about 600 dollar PS3. Crying about a 500 Xbox

Now we believe the us, who's avg household makes 53k as a family, is going to rush out to buy this AND a 4K system. When they just probably bought an HD tv and a next gen system 3 years ago

Stop believing the hype. These new systems, BOTH of them, are for gaming elitists. I just bought a 60 inch screen 2 years ago. Have a ps4 and routinely keep 2 systems.

Ain't no way in hell im getting a 4K tv until cable, movies, gaming and Internet is routinely put out in the format

Seems like common sense to me. Why would anyone expect a "4K console" to be optimized on a 1080p TV?

GC: And if you don’t own a 4K TV you’re not really going to see any benefit?

PS: Yeah… We specced Scorpio to be a great 4K console. The output of Scorpio is meant to be plugged into a 4K TV and we wanted to make sure the internal frame buffer of the Scorpio can support 4K. So that’s our target: 4K streaming and the power. So really, that’s the focus of us building the console – that is to build a great 4K console.
As people are moving to 4K TVs, I think this is great [points to Xbox One S] if you want to call it a 1K console. It obviously supports 4K video streaming, but from a game standpoint… if you’re looking to play 4K video games, games in 4K, Scorpio is what you should go buy.

GC: It’s just, when I think of what’s needed to justify buying a whole new console I feel it needs to be more than just a change in resolution. It needs to be something my mum, or any other disinterested party, will immediately notice and realise is a big step up.

PS: That’s right.

GC: And I’m not sure this necessarily sounds like that.

PS: And that’s why we’re going to have both in the market at the same time. It’s for exactly that reason. So people ask me: ‘Is this a generational change for a console?’ And I say this is part of the Xbox One family. If you like the way games look today the price point of an Xbox One today, or an Xbox One S this summer, is actually a great console for you. Because many people say, ‘You’ve announced Xbox One S and you’ve announced Project Scorpio – why would anyone buy an Xbox One S?’ And honestly the answer is pretty obvious…

GC: Because you don’t have an 4K TV!

PS: That’s right! It’s price and the capability that you have. And even if you had a 4K TV but you really just want to watch Netflix in 4K and you’re fine with the way the games look now, the Xbox One S is great value at 299, the lowest priced console on the market. It’s got a 4K UHD Blu-ray drive… Project Scorpio is for your core enthusiast who wants 4K gaming. And I’m not trying to sell everybody on Scorpio. We’re going to run the programme with both consoles in market, and I think there’s an audience for both of them.

GC: So say a developer came to you and said they wanted to use the power of Scorpio for something else. Maybe they wanted to drop the resolution to 1080p and use the processing power usually reserved for 4K to run advanced AI or graphical effects or whatever. Would you just tell them no?

PS: This is the discussion we’re starting with developers. The reason we’re announcing it now is so that we can have discussions about what developers want to do with the power. I can tell you the design point of Scorpio is to run a 4K gaming console.

GC: But if someone finds something clever they want to do with all that power, you won’t necessarily stop them?

PS: This gets a little bit more technical in that the box itself will always output a 4K signal. You can plug it into a HDTV as well, but if you plug it into a 4K TV the signal you’re gonna get is always gonna be 4K. So even if a developer decides that they don’t want a 4K frame buffer – say they want a frame buffer that’s a little smaller so that they can do some graphic techniques in that buffer – we’re gonna output a 4K signal, plugged into a 4K television.
Laid out plain and simple.

If Yall still confused on who/what this system is for, then you are probably just retarded:francis:

The Xbox One is the Xbox division's Windows Vista. They put it out and it wasn't received the way they wanted it to be and now Scorpio is coming out. Like the Windows OS they run support in parallel but after a certain date support is completely pulled.

I've never seen a single product change everything a company does quite the way Microsoft changed after the Xbox One didn't do the numbers they wanted:

Constant price drops and multiple game bundles not too long after the console was released that have remained a fixture ever since.
They removed a whole feature (Kinect) from the console that was part of the retail package.
They decided they no longer wanted to report console sales numbers. Instead they report Xbox Live users.
They decided to drop Xbox exclusive games and port all their games to the PC as well.
Within 4 years they're putting out a new console that's 4x more powerful than the current generation console and announced it within 3.5 years.

As a person that's owned every Xbox console including every revision of the Xbox 360 I'm a bit standoffish on the Scorpio especially if Microsoft will let me play their games on my 980 ti rig that's plugged up to my 4K TV. My issue with that is they need to fix their Windows app store and the crap performance of these games on the PC. Honestly though it's not like Microsoft is swimming in exclusive content I even want at this point. They probably put out 2-4 exclusive games a year I want if that.
