Those guys were starters and are gonna want to be paid as such. RoLo is definitely someone I'd want to sign if Monroe fell through tho. Not really a fan of Asik

Some of these deals are bad deals made with the justification that they will look good in a few years. After the market drys up salaries might get lower because players will be more willing to negotiate to get a deal.
The new market is being set. There will be a lot of superstars being paid what journeymen are now making. 
And you guys are right, we couldn't be the first to pay one of these non-descript players max dollars.
Lets allow the market define itself and we will see who is left. Its not advisable to settle for a scrub just for the sake of looking busy this summer.
I would rather be alone than hitch myself to a beast because I am desperate or because everyone has a date.

You know, I haven't heard anything about hackett in the last week or so, I know CSKA Moscow was also interested in him. It would be dope if we could somehow get Kaun interested in coming to NY.
Maybe Hackett will show up on the summer league roster?

Why sign David West tho? I understand Monroe to a degree but not West. Seems to be minutes that would be better spent on Kris
True, but there are at least a handful of teams with a ton of cap that look like they're gonna strike out and they all could use a a solid big like RoLo or Koufos (who I would also gladly take if Monroe fell through)
I just dont see those guys coming cheap.
Because dudes are still stuck under the idea that you can build a contending team through free agency, because the Heat did it!
David West will be KPs bodyguard and a locker room guy.

we need leadership in the locker room to mentor the younger guys
I doubt Porzingis will need a "body guard" he won't be much of an impact player next season.

Because to me, atleast what i get from the moves you made, is that you guys are in an all in, unspoken rebuild.....the only reason you guys signed melo was to give the fans something in the mean time and for buisness purposes = revenue from his name.
