What you nikkas don't understand is that duke's LOWEST review is 4/5, HIGHEST 5/5.
So why the fukk are pitchfork wrong for giving it 4.75? When it's known that they fukks with Kanye.

I give it 4.5/5 after about 10 listens, it's classic music, but would be a 5/5 if he only focused a bit more on the lyrics on certain joints.

Anyways I understand why someone will give this 2/5 and the ones who give it close to 5/5.
The ones who give it 2/5, are conservative in their taste for hiphop and the ones giving it 5/5 are very open-minded in regards to not only rap but music and have a deep knowledge in both. They understand that this album sounds more like an album from the 80s, the understand (and appreciate of course) minimalism, the emotion and scenery Kanye is delivering, the balls of doing something else (just like Waka Flocka Flame, Nas, Big, Jeezy, Slick Rick) which in most cases will lead to a great album.

classic dumb intellectual reasoning. so if you dont like kanye you arent openminded? i hate this statement, its makes people who dont fux with yeezy look like some teapartiers. kanye cant rap. if being progressive means accepting a weak mc, fx it. also, kanyes worldview is horrible. he hates women, is hypocritical. the only good thing on this album is the music, but kanye aint a good enough mc to make it come together. i like 3 or 4 songs, it aint a total bust. but damn. i never seen dikkriding like this.

I'm just basing this of the coli, I can guess that people who hate on this album are cats that fukk with conservative shyt. And people who like it are generally people that fukk with a broader range of hiphop.
Multiple of these posters I recognize have said shyt like "this ain't hiphop", "what the fukk is this" etc.

I'm not saying it is, but going by the posters I recognize I would say that my hypothesis is justified. Of course I should not generalize a few posters comment without mentioning it.
It reminds me of tr hate Jeezy got from New Yorkers. I also have to admit that the album is not for everyone, cause its not conservative. Luckily people who matter in music media are on the right side of the fence :ahh:

The best thing about Kanye is that he's never conservative, never gives the people what they want. That's how you stack 5/5 albums, again I'm not saying this is.

your hypothesis is sh1tified..

Kanye always been different ....

His music has never sounded like par for the course hip hop except for maybe cruel summer....

His view was always different ...All that goes back to how he came up.

He has never been in line for god Mc but his lyrics here are unbearable. ...

I actually like daft punk but if you listen to their catalog this is definitely something of their weaker work.

Good music is good music... I use to live stronger ....A little different but it was great IMHO.

If you find this album mediocre or underwhelming its because it is....more of the same over produced mess from Kanye that almost ruined mdtbf.

I'm not sitting around waiting to here another preemo break beat track either ..different approaches to the genre is fine. .but this??? this is an amateur attempt at what he thinks something should sound like and it shows.

Can we take a step back for a minute and focus on the fact that Kanye released a song in 2013 titled "Can't Hold My Liquor" that features Chief Keef and fukking Bon Iver?!

That's some parallel universe shyt.

Pitchfork is cool as long as their not talking about mainstream Hip Hop. Those writers love indie/alternative/experimental shyt. I go to them when I want black keys album review, but not a review about a Hip Hop album.

That said, album's an 8 :yeshrug:

SINY!!
That doesn't really apply in Kanye's case. Ye does one interview every 2 years now.

In his case yeah, but he's one of the few who have a no interview policy. At the same time, there are also a slew of events that eventually lead him to this.

It's an amateur attempt yet, the professionals think that it's extremely good. And mbdtf was not only his first 10.0 album but also his first 5 mic album.

Lol at amateur, there is negative criticism and there is hate.
You are hating calling one of the illest producers in hiphop work amateur work.

I know plenty Kanye Stans who don't fukk with this album, their reasons is that they don't like hardcore styled production, they can't understand the music etc. you nikkas are acting like you understand it but that its amateurish, lazy etc. and everyone who likes it is a cac, stupid etc fukk outta here.

He's a mainstream artist, and that was the gist of what I was trying to convey. I don't go to pitchfork for any mainstream hip hop artist, they have an aesthetic that I dont think is fair to judge most what the genre is about or creating.

lol pitchfork...

you would think a site that specializes in alternative music would shyt on such a cheap interpretation of it. meh guess not

It's liberal guilt and reverse racism.. They would never allow a white alternative artist to get away with this type of fukkery...

It's like when there is a white guy in a dunk contest or a white girl singing at The Apollo...The majority of the credit is giving just for going against "type"
