This keeps coming up. The NFL has a 53 man roster, the NBA has what a 15 man roster? I think NFL players (at the lower tiers) are underpaid and I think they all c00ned out on their last 2 revenue sharing negotiations (give up about 5% for less practice time), but you can't compare to other leagues.
Doesnt matter the ROI on Football is still trash simply from a health aspect.

A lot of cats like Cam Newton were two sport stars but were simply such athletic freaks that football was the no brainer.
I do find it interesting that there has not been a rise in cats playing Baseball especially since we are at the age of a lot of 2nd gen athletes coming into the game who have their pops who were athletes to guide them.

It's easiest to make it to the NFL, so players are more expendable. With basketball now being a global sport, it will be much harder to make it to the NBA which was already extremely difficult, see Hoop Dreams. They atleast have options outside the US.
Baseball is damn near impossible to make it in. Most 1st rounders don't even have successful careers in the majors.

I played football in Middle and HighSchool and took some of the worst hits. I seen other players take WORSE hits, Nothing happened to me or them. Some of yall have to stop being scary.
