Digital rentals should be cheaper than physical purchases. That is all :manny:
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is $19.99 digitally for PS3 and about $17 for the physical version.

To rent it for 7 days it's $6, for 30 days it's $8 and for 90 days or 3 months its $15. Now I have a PS3 so it'd be smarter for me to just buy it digitally and download to my PS3. At this point for people like me it's smarter to just buy the digital code or physical version for PS3 and call it a day.

Now here's something some people forget about PS Now:

Eventually this service will extend to certain bravia TV's, PS Vita, PCs, tablets and smartphones I believe.

If I was say away from my PS3 or didn't have one but had a vita, I'd be tempted to just rent it for $6 and just play it immediately, streaming on the comfort of my Vita.

Now for someone without a PS3 but say a Vita or PC, they can play NGS2 immediately to their device.

It basically boils down to convenience. I know you're thinking, "Well why doesn't this person just buy a PS3 and buy any other game they want since it'll save them money in the long run?" Well again, convenience. Some people may not have $150-200 for a brand new or used PS3 right this moment and they probably don't feel like driving over to the store to do that even if they did have the money.

It's actually better to do that than to go out and buy a PS3 when they can just quickly rent the game for say a month and complete it. It basically boils down to convenience. PSnow is a cool service for those who don't have access to dedicated games hardware. And yes it is well within people's right to pay for convenience. Its just my opinion that the prices are pretty steep for the games on offer. With the amount of deals available now a days it's really hard to find any value in the service beyond its convenience.

So I just tested it out and rented Dead or Alive 5 for $5 for 7 days. It's not bad at all. I couldn't tell if it was streaming as the picture and sound quality was pretty good. It looked like a native PS3 game. Input lag was minimal but I never played this game before so I can't tell how it plays natively. I just hit rent and 2 minutes later I'm playing a PS3 game. It even puts a quick launch icon on the PS4 home screen to go straight to the game. The XMB works in game just like it does on PS3. :patrice: This is really cool to be honest. I used on live years ago and I remembered it was very laggy but this played great to the point I was really looking hard for faults. Impressed. :ehh: I won't use this again in the future unless there's more games put on and it works on PC or something or if I'm really lazy.

OnLive has gotten a whole lot better over the years.

I see Microsoft buying them out if they keep the Xbox division past this generation

The Original Rec Room Gang
Yesterday, Sony introduced the gaming world to their Open Beta of PlayStation Now, a digital game streaming service that allows PSN users to instantly access titles from an ever-growing library and stream them instantly to their console. The idea of PlayStation Now is wonderful in premise, specifically because of the ability for PS4 owners to rent and stream PlayStation 3 games that they might not have had in the past.

The problem with the PlayStation Now service is that Sony, at least at this moment, seems very confused about what they want Now to become. Despite having an undeniably brilliant idea on their hands, allowing the millions of PlayStation 4 owners to rent titles digitally, Sony has dropped the ball from an early stage, demanding prices that are ludicrous to the point that there is virtually no defending them.

Simply put, at this juncture, there is literally no reason to rent a game via the PlayStation Now service.

I say this not from a place of moral superiority or fanboyism or anywhere other than simple fiscal responsibility. The current prices that Sony expects are considerably higher than what they should be, to the point that many of the 100 plus games currently on PlayStation Now, it would simply be more cost-effective to simple purchase the game from a retailer, rather than rent the ability to stream them for any given period of time.

For those unaware, Sony’s PlayStation Now service offers four distinct rental periods, all at different price points. Starting at a mere four hours, users can also rent a game for seven days, thirty days or ninety days. These short trials tend to start around $2.99, while seven day rentals average around $7.99 at the time of writing. This seems innocuous enough, until you take into consideration that many of the current offerings on PlayStation Now are older titles from the PlayStation 3′s library and can be bought for the same price – if not cheaper – outright, not simply rented.

A prime example of this PSN price gouging can be seen when examining Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Kojima’s classic was released in 2008 and is currently available for rental on PlayStation Now, starting at a four hour trial for $4.99. People are always willing to pay for a great game, but charging that much for a few mere hours seems something more like ignorance considering that the game can be bought for $6.99 used from GameStop.

The argument that I am sure will be made is that PlayStation Now is catering more towards those who do not currently have a PlayStation 3 and want to experience the game’s impressive library. While there is certainly some validity to this, Sony’s current pricing strategy seems more like modern day highway robbery than anything. The fact of the matter is that without reevaluating their pricing structure, Sony’s PlayStation Now streaming service is destined to be dead in the water.
Didn't you make this exact same thread yesterday?

Yeah, you did. But I'm gonna let this place "Cook" as they say :smugbiden:
It'd be funny to see certain people's reaction to this potential move. :sas2:
Yeah, you and liquid would think that is a potential move. You could ask the guy who pays attention Courtdogstradamus. He'd tell you its not likely since Azure can handle this shyt no problem. Microsoft knows this is a bullshyt idea and publicly said as much. Said if gamers really wanted a bullshyt service like that they could offer it but feedback was :camby:

Thats why you seen stories like this back in the day posted by ya boi :win:

http://www.theverge.com/2013/9/26/4...alo-4-streaming-from-the-cloud-to-windows-and

Microsoft said they would use it (if demand it high) to enable BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY via the cloud instead of charging you for shyt you already bought. Talk about crushing the buildings :sas2:

I see nothing wrong with the prices, I don't plan on paying more than the $7-$10 option anyway, only need these games for 10 days

With that said....

Dark Sliders or Ninja Gaiden 2 or 3 any good?
