sounds like excuses to me. melo played in a tougher conference and made the playoffs every year, something the nuggets didnt do til melo was drafted. melo also won a national title.

but yea your right these past couple knick teams were juggernauts with toney douglas, bill walker, jared jeffries, landry fields, and ronny turiaf. and with the best coach in the league mike d'antoni, how did they not win!?

Melo fans/defenders come up with the most excuses from my personal experience when discussing basketball.

I just told my boy who's a Melo stan that he only has 6 assists for the entire series against Boston and he replies back saying, "He's not a passer"

If Melo is as good as people make him out to be, there's no way he should have been swept and bounced in 5 the amount of times he has in his career. Nevermind that he's only been out of the 1st Round once in his entire career, but let's talk about how he's been swept or gone in 5 games 7 out of 10 Postseason appearances...

I could do the same shyt too . Fact is Before Garnett and Allen got there Paul Pierce was Melo. Better than average rebounders as small forwards, similar amount of assists (.8 career difference) and Melo is a better shooter than Paul Pierce.

So people tend to close their eyes and only remember Paul Pierce after he linked up with Garnett and Allen.

I shyt on Melo a lot on here because it makes knicks fans but current Melo's ceiling is higher than Paul Pierce's ever was in his prime.

Im a Celtics fan but im choosing melo easily, paul peirce was always a second tier player imo, he never was elite, melo is a top tier player and just a beast, and he the best scorer in the league, I just cant forget how he use to get lit up by kerry kitties, keith van horne and Richard jefferson, they really couldnt ever beat the nets, pierce legacy wouldnt be shyt without kg, kg already a hof before the 08 ship

The funny thing is in regard to melo you always hoped he'd go through a change of maturity kinda similar to what pierce did and realize its about the team...

Pierce made sacrifices when kg and ray came to town, when rondo emerged... Melo shows no sign of changing or evolving his game.

Pierce is a better 3 point shooter, better passer, better defender, better court vision/basketball iq, better leader, better work ethic, .. Any kind of intangibles, pierce is better.

Only the 3 point shooting could be argued, but melo is streakier...
