Prime Paul pierce Or Current Melo?

Im a Celtics fan but im choosing melo easily, paul peirce was always a second tier player imo, he never was elite, melo is a top tier player and just a beast, and he the best scorer in the league, I just cant forget how he use to get lit up by kerry kitties, keith van horne and Richard jefferson, they really couldnt ever beat the nets, pierce legacy wouldnt be shyt without kg, kg already a hof before the 08 ship

I'm trying to tell these bums about Pierce pre-KG. This dude @King Diesel said Pierce is a leader. KG was the leader of that team and he let Pierce put up the front publicly so his(Pierce's) ego wont be bruised.

After careful consideration i have to pick Paul Pierce. Melo is a better scorer but everything else they are pretty much even in. And Paul is a better playmaker than Carmelo and he contributes in more ways than Melo. If Pierce shot is not falling he still may get you 10 to 12 boards and 6 to 8 assists with decent defense played too. If Melo doesnt get 25 than his impact on the game is usually not felt. There is no wrong answer cuz these two are basically the same player but ima take prime Pierce over Melo.

prime pierce still better than melo though. very similar games, and pierce had some of the same flaws (hero ball etc), but pierce has always been an underrated defender and could better fit into different offensive systems fluidly while melo needs a system tailored to him..melo was better in college than pierce was at Kansas, pierce was better early in boston than melo was in Denver, and melo is better than pierce now.

if melo wins a ring then ill give him the nod, but melo needs some clutch playoff moments to elevate himself over a prime pierce, who's prime ended essentially when they won the ring...though he is still efficient and can step it up when truly needed.

I just feel like melo will not be as close to effective as pierce is in old age...maybe old pierce > old melo? haha..idk

fukk the celtics when kg retire, but i watched pierce his entire career, i watch almost every game he played these last 5 years, i watched him get worked every year by the nets, pierce defense was ass just like melo before kg got there, shyt when kg out the lineup they give up like 10 more points, they d turn to shyt as soon as he hits the bench

nikkaz dont know shyt, kg was and even till this day a better player and a better leader, at no point in they career was pierce better than kg

once they got on the same team, they team d took a 100% turn, and now pierce is looked at as good d player, kg is and was the leader of that team and pierce know that

no you didnt watch shyt. boston lost to NJ when NJ was the higher seed, teh celtics were a bad TEAM that shouldve never made it as far as they did but only because of Pierce they made it to the conference finals. they also had one of the greatest comebacks in NBA playoffs history against nj. and losing twice to a team in the playoffs does not qualify as "every year". you may have become a celtics fan when KG came but dont try to act like you know about their history before that

The funny thing is in regard to melo you always hoped he'd go through a change of maturity kinda similar to what pierce did and realize its about the team...

Pierce made sacrifices when kg and ray came to town, when rondo emerged... Melo shows no sign of changing or evolving his game.

Pierce is a better 3 point shooter, better passer, better defender, better court vision/basketball iq, better leader, better work ethic, .. Any kind of intangibles, pierce is better.

Only the 3 point shooting could be argued, but melo is streakier...
