Man Prince is talented asf but everything after the album that Little Red Corvette on it don't hit the same.

He purposely said fukk the mainstream im doing me and he went too far left at times.
I can’t even take you serious with this post because purple rain was the next album after 1999 which little red corvette was on and the Purple Rain album was basically Prince’s thriller if we talking mainstream.

Nah not 1999, I actually meant Raspberry Beret and the album is Around the world in a Day. That's what I meant to say lol

Honestly From For You to Sign of The times I think he released his best shyt one of the goat 9 album stretches. Then he had sprinkles here and there. But to me wasn’t the same.

that shyt is all good
it shows the difference in music listeners

not chasing hits isnt necessarily a bad thing

when you name top 10 in rap music... most of the names dont chase hits like that
you cant be like "this jazz album is a fall off" when it was completely different

his fall off was mid 90s when he got married and got religious
people werent into all that shyt...but the albums were still good with little to no promotion

he came back with musicology

but he wasnt dropping albums to really give a fukk or chart :yeshrug:

I don't think he ever fell off. He's too varied and experimental. He may have made music that didn't connect with a wider audience, or his music was different than what people expected, but I don't think it was ever to the point that it was trash. I think he makes timeless music that may not be for the age created, but will feel great in one's later years. the quality is just too great. You could always tell that he was one to carefully craft his music, rather than throw stuff out.

Now, other artists of his status...
