Helldivers 2 beats God of War Ragnarok’s record

According to Sony Interactive Entertainment interim CEO Hiroki Totoki, sales of Helldivers II surpassed the record set by God of War Ragnarok in the same period after its release in 2022. It is Sony Interactive Entertainment’s biggest PC title to date, and as a multiplatform release, it also contributed significantly to sales and profit in the fourth quarter of Sony Group Corporation’s fiscal year ended March 31, 2024.

• Game & Network Services net sales: ¥4.3 trillion ($27.5 billion, up 17%)
• Game & Network Services operating income: ¥290.2 billion ($1.9 billion, up 16%)

Q4 (3 months ended March 31, 2024)

• Game & Network Services net sales: ¥1.1 trillion ($7.03 billion, up 2.2%)
• Game & Network Services operating income: ¥135.8 billion ($868 million, up 172.5%)

The highlights​

Breaking down the full-year results for its G&NS division, Sony reported software sales of ¥2.2 trillion ($14.1 billion, up 24% year-on-year), of which digital software and add-ons accounted for ¥1.9 trillion ($12.1 billion, up 27%).

The platform holder said 286.4 million games were sold for PS5 during the course of the year, of which 39.7 million were first-party titles. By comparison, the previous fiscal year saw 264.2 million games sold, of which 43.5 million were first-party.

They revised their sales expectations down in 2023 and in 2024 they are guiding for hardware sales to be even lower than 2023. That indicated hardware manufacturers are facing challenges selling hardware and I don't believe it's supply constraints anymore.

Playstation already said months ago the PS5 was entering the decline part of the product cycle. The 18 million estimate is still incredible and similar to PS4 launch aligned despite the PS5 being more expensive.

You're being stupid since 4.5m in Q4 is fukking massive, acting like their second best q4 is a disappointment because it couldn't match a record breaking 6.3 (when they finally solved the supply problem) is

The biggest Q4 the PS4 did was 2.9m.

Last year they shipped 19.1m, this year they shipped 20.8m

Meanwhile xbox moved 0.8m
