Didn't know that, appreciate the info. But yeah, he can definately take some lessons in humility. People can say what they want about Ross, but he paid his dues and deserves a measure of respect.

:pachaha:

like someone who nicknames himself freddie gangsta gibbs or baby faced killa and yells fukk the police on stage everytime is gonna respect some former CO.

Gibbs is dope. Hope he gets a release date. Dont understand signing with jeezy.

See, I may think ross is the most over rated rapper of all time right now, but as an actual label owner hes doing fairly well. Releasing music wise.

Signing with jeezy though? Its pretty clear jeezy has little interest in running a label. Which is fine, not every artist needs to be a CEO. Or do they want to be, the majors usually push sub labels on artists to make more money off their brand. The artists heart isnt in it, so thats why 9 times out of 10 the labels do nothing.

When gibbs signed with jeezy, I resigned myself to the fact hes never seeing a release date. Same when someone signs to aftermath.

"Internet Rapper" or not the dude is building a fanbase and getting show money.
The average rapper is not doing it on the level of dudes like Freddie Gibbs or Action Bronson,I don't know if he's touring off of his music but if he is then he's probably eating well.

his fan base has remained relatively the same over the past few years.. he's still doing small venues, if he's even headlining.. as i said, he's a glorified internet rapper..

him and Action Bronson are nowhere near the same level.. Bronson Usain Bolt'd past dude in the last few months, with much less push than Gibbs ever had.. that in itself, says alot..

at least gibbs admitted it on record, unlike some people :usure:

Your father was a cop? How did that work, did you live with him growing up in Gary?

Yeah, I did. It’s funny because I get this question a lot. My dad came up in Gary, he was a musician, too. He was a singer and I guess he did what he had to do to support himself and in the 80s when I was like two-years-old, he joined the police force. Anyway, it was some sh*t, I don’t know the specifics of it but some scandal happened in ’91 that forced him to resign from the department. So throughout the years he was always working super-duper overtime or out of a job, or looking for a job, just struggling for money. And I watched my mom struggle to take care of three kids plus my little cousin, and my dad, he knew a lot of the sh*t that I was doing in the streets but he didn’t stop me from doing it. My dad was a cop but he wasn’t no angel, know what I mean? A lot of cops in Gary ain’t, especially not for one of the lowest salaries in the country, so you can imagine the corruption that goes on.

So, I would see how fu*ked up my dad was with money; blowing money and tricking off on sh*t with his other bi*ches, so when I needed something where else was I gonna turn? I was going to school seeing other kids with new Jordans but my mom, this check she had to pay for this, or this check she had to pay for that. My mom made sure I had a roof over my head but that was it. Beyond that, I had to take it upon myself to be independent. That was the way she always raised me and that is the way she always wanted me to be. I always had an independent mindset, I never asked nobody for nothing, even coming up rapping. I seen a lot of nikkas around me that rap who took money from big dope boys in our city to jumpstart they rap career, pay for their studio time and all that. But me, I was always like, “Nah, man. I’ll sell my own sack, work off my own pack.” I’m not about to let you give me a pack and now I owe you. I’ll pay for my own studio time, press my own CD’s. I will always have that [independent streak] in me.

I know a bunch of dudes from the g that grew up with homie, was put on to his music by them super early (prior to the interscope deal, talking bout songs recorded on pcs in dorms and bedrooms days), and am a big fan of his music...but the myth making and lionizing on the internet of him as some kind of super authentic gangsta rap messiah that's just "too real for the industry" is :pachaha: .

He definitely needs and deserves some kind of a real push though...him signing to cte has been one of the more fruitless "major artist.signs.rapper with blog buzz" situations in recent memory

I haven't checked out just how popular Bronson is lately but if thats the
Case then someone needs to give Gibbs more of a push because I remember
When he was putting out projects one after the other his presence online continued to grow if he's stalling then he may need a helping hand.

Hes better off staying with Decon, Stones Throw or one of those reputable indie labels and dropping gems

He has zero mainstream appeal and his sh1t will only get watered-down on a major. Why bother?

He should just go the Curren$y, Smoke DZA, Big K.R.I.T. etc route, if dudes like this, all inferior MCs, can drop music regularly why the fukk can't he? He is in danger of disappearing at this stage.

Bar Nas and Kendrick Lamar what rappers are better verse for verse then Freddie right now? Talent like that shouldn't go to waste.

and..? he's still a regular cat, who fakes the funk.. who cares what he admitted..

thank you..

he not stalling.. it just is what it is.. he'a a internet rap dude.. nothing wrong with that, but cats making it seem like he's gonna make some kinda dent in the industry, is laughable..

him and Bronson, are in two totallt different lanes yet started out in the same race.. one reason being, is Bronson doesn't front.. he's a likeable/approachable rapper that people want to work with, book for shows, etc.. Gibbs lacks any personality, and thinks he's some "gangsta" thats too hard for the industry.. that in itself, is whats holding him back.. I know both them cats.. Gibbs just comes off as a corny dude who tries too hard..

i just appreciate the fact that he admitted to it when asked straight up. i can't respect ross for blatantly lying when asked straight up.

there has literally never been a rapper in the history of hiphop that lived everything he said. but there needs to be thresholds :manny:
