I just looked it up and I was wrong when I said NY's defense has been trash since November. It was only bad this month, so it's not so bad, as long as they clean it up soon than later. I was only looking at opp fg%, which isn't nearly as important as opp ppg, which has been very good every month except this one. Same goes for their opp 3pfg%.

I think yall overrating Teague, to be honest. He's good, but he's not give up a large amount of assets good. Only reason he made the all-star team is because Atlanta had a fluke good year.

With that being said, he is obviously an upgrade over Calderon, but I'm not sure how I feel about his contract eating into the cap for the summer though.

Not large assets, but a couple of decent assets isn't too much when you consider imo because:
. This FA class only has one true quality PG, who stands to make 20 mil per or more compared to Teague who is a quality PG for 8 mil per. So the only way to address the glaring issue in the line-up would be to spend all of our cap space in the summer on the one guy who can address it. That's why trading for Teague and sacrificing less than half the cap space for him could be the better value. You address the PG need and have over 10 million to throw at a player minimum, and more if guys opt out.

. Teague is a bit younger than Conley with two seasons less time out there which combined with Teague being brought on slowly means a LOT less mileage on him.

. Teague's contract can be made up almost entirely if we find a taker for Calderon or if AA opts out. Meaning we could potentially have the same amount of cap space but offer FA's a chance to play with Melo, KP and Teague instead of Melo, KP and Jose Calderon.

. I think acquiring Teague locks us into the playoffs which is another big selling point to FA targets. We're a team with a superstar, an upcoming star, a quality PG with an allstar game in his past and we're a playoff squad.

. The year Teague expires is looking like a year of quality PG options in the FA class. Which means he becomes a stop gap at worst and then enters a class where there are enough PG's to maybe even drive the cost of signing one down a bit.

So I think the main one is the lack of better options in fa and then combine that with his contract value being cheap compared to what it'll cost us to sign similar talent now that the cap is rising. If you can get him without giving up too much, he's really worth some quality going out.

This is a great post. If Pac were alive, he'd say, #YouAreAppreciated.
