No, like that video of Young Lyor Cohen wildin @ a RUN DMC show floating around on YouTube. They were at the local shows at the clubs. They weren't out at the park. Same difference my g.
So say they were fans from early oppose to acting as if they made major contributions during hip hops inception , which some did like Rick Rubin for example but how many rick rubins were there at the time in comparision to blacks and latins making major contributions

Who do you think were showing up to these artists shows?

Here's where you're right and we all can agree... We (and young Latinos) started it.... That's it...

@DMGAINGREEN

Still goes on today....

They love it...

When Chief Keef hit the scene in 2012 he wasn't just some drill artist we fell in love with... Euro America fell in love with him too.. Just as fast we did lol

All cacs did for the most part ishelp finance it which once again is common knowledge , im talking from an artistic standpoint

:snoop:

Once again, they were fans, critics, vultures, just like we were from the beginning. You're showing your youth.

Are you trolling?

The words he's spitting allude to him being just like you and me, a person who has perhaps struggled to get to where he wanted to get to within his profession or career or life but we all know the reality is that he was a child TV star with inroads to the entertainment industry so to imply that his journey is similar to his peers or even the average fan is facetious

And Rick Ross alludes to being a drug kingpin. Rap/Hip Hop is rife with poseurs and frauds.

I've never said otherwise about Ross...nor have I ever defended anyone claiming that Jay-Z lost 92 bricks, was subsequently forced to fall back, yet made it all back at some point between the 1st and 15th of the next month :dwillhuh:

I remember my dad saying hip-hop was just noise. He didn't even respect it until Native Tongues came around.

Exactly!!

I remember like yesterday my cousin looking at me crazy wondering why I was making all that NOISE (SCRATCHING) up his Aunties turntable

:troll:

Rap Music wasnt embraced with open arms by the black community as these books and movies romanticize it as being .......

I recall many arguments I had with my pops..my uncle and even some of friends who saw Rap as some Childish Novelty genre that will soon fade as a fad

even amongst the youth most of whom were still being programmed by radio saturated with r&b..funk and remnants of disco...

It took many some time to adapt to a genre which was void of instrumentation and melody

For example WBLS in NYC the virtual home of HIP HOP ON THE RADIO during the 80s had a love and hate relationship with the genre

I remember one day coming back to NYC after being down south all year I think it was like 92 and FRANKIE CROCKER the legendary Program Director of WBLS had pulled all RAP from the gottdamn playlist

I was PISSED :damn:

but come to find out he was just trying to appease advertisers ...

it was a Business decision..that took me awhile to understand and realize ..THIS IS NOTHING PERSONAL IT'S BUSINESS...

and that was the case with hip hop back during the so-called GOLDEN ERA....

Most outlets and venues couldnt comprehend it...

As evident in Public Enemy's appearance on SOUL TRAIN in which following PE performance Don Cornelious greeted PE with the words ..

" that was FRIGHTENING! " :sadcam:

Yeah he WAS scared just like many black americans who wasnt use to a genre so unorthdox

but while black America ignored it...whiteboys full of angst and just looking for something "eccentric".."different' and rebelous gravitated to it...........

As President Obama stated When comparing drake to Kendrick. He's a great entertainer PERIOD. When it comes to emceeing that's a different story. Drake makes great music for the whip and gym but the days of comparing to his peers(Kendrick,Cole, wale,Sean) are over.
