Because I have morals, principles, and ethics?

Pascal's wager has been discussed for centuries, it's a cop-out. The real question is, if you genuinely believe in a God, why do you follow organized religions which have done untold harm to humanity as a whole in the name of your so-called God, just because they have wacky metaphors about mustard and shyt?

Sounds like some brainwashed tomfoolery to me

This is Pascal’s wager and it fails.

it doesn’t account for other gods, other heavens, other hells, or other religions.

It assets you can trick an all knowing god into thinking you’re an honest believer when you’re opportunistically adopting a religion. Do you think god is fooled by you buying spiritual insurance?

Just be an omnist and cover all bases :blessed:

God A says if you believe in him, you go to Heaven and if you believe in God B you go to Hell.
God B says if you believe in him, you go to Heaven and if you believe in God A you go to Hell.

What do you mean?
Read Kierkegaard. One of his central theses is the act of being a 'true' believer is dependent upon making a 'leap of faith'.

Also, if God is so-called omnipotent, if I choose to believe in God merely out of some statistical gambit, then that God would obviously know I'm not really a 'true' believer, and I'd go to hell anyways. It's nonsensical. You can't just trick omnipotent deities into salvation, ask how that worked for Prometheus and Tartarus, it has to be a legitimate faith. Allegedly.

So you felt the best way to convince an atheist is a bad rendition of Pascal's Wager?
I'm not trying to convince anyone..

Atheists seem to be getting defensive in here.

I don't even know what a pascal wager is nor do I really care to be honest.

I'm asking why not have a little faith in a God and a afterlife...

Might not be strong..you may have a little bit of doubt..but I thought if you just have the tiniest bit of faith in God that he will show himself to you , appreciate you having just a bit of faith.

:stopitslime:

A response is not defensive. Plus you started the thread with a wager.

Never implied it...

My question is why not have a little bit of faith.

You and others are bringing in other stuff into this for reasons I'm unaware of...
Because theres no reason to.

You can use this for any idea no matter how unsubstantiated.

Why not have a little faith that the earth is flat? or that white supremacy is good? or that You're going to hell?
