Every time someone disagrees with someone else, the other person calls them a stan. That's such a weak, cop-out response.

People acting like Jay-Z was never in the conversation. :what:People acting like anyone who doesn't think Jay-Z is #1 is riding Nas. :why:

People can have different opinions lol. No need for the personal attack, no need to call Raekwon a dikk rider for saying this about Jigga either. Jay-Z is obviously in the conversation for GOAT whether you think he is #1 or not. People acting like it's blasphemy.

Also to the person who said Illmatic got "zero respect" when it dropped - wrong. It got zero commercial respect, but you can't play like people threw it in the trash.

No one can question Jay's success, saying he's GOAT is understandable.

I feel like Rae is trying hard to be that "cool old-head", cause to today's youth Jay is God. Someone 30+ (40+ in Rae's case) probably wouldn't say that

Jays fans comes of all types, people who named him #1 range from Raekwon, Crooked I, Drake, Ab-Soul to motherfukking Obama, Dr. Dre, Rick Ross, Jeezy, I think Em said he was his 2nd favorite on that joint on ES and on. There's no pattern at all, which is interesting cause Jay-z hasn't really got a rap style just like Em another dude whose known stans are pretty random as well.

The odd thing is that Jay-z doesn't fukk with rappers, or he hasn't been fukking with rappers unless they are ballers or signed/managed by the roc.
Usually all these type of "favorite rapper" thing among the oldies is either, who you came up listening to or someone you fukk with.

GOAT status makes sense. Jay is Top 5 for me. But Im late 20s. Im surprised that they feel the same, but I aint mad

I think it's easy to see why they say that though. They know better than anybody how almost impossible it is to stay relevant in hiphop for 5 years let alone damn near 20.

I don't think they fukk with Hov musically anymore, but they respect his career.

You don't think they fukked with WTT? Everyone was celebrating that album, same with AG..
And songs, songs too like DOA even though it was on a weak album, his performances which for like 10 years arguably were the best in hiphop, killing every new rapper on their shyt, the amount of classic street hits that just keeps on getting added for every album he drops and on, people respect more than just albums. It's pretty obvious that your 17th album won't be an album that means shyt to your legacy unless he just stayed in his safest zone and did soulful hiphop or intelligent street shyt. But really, it's only a small group of conservative nikkas that would appreciate that from Jay at this point.

That's why BP3 despite being weak will be remembered longer than most of these legends albums cause they're not challenging themselves, spitting over the same type of beats, same flow, for the same audience on every album.

Surely then we can say the same about RD. :yeshrug:

..... but when did I compare that? lol I never even implied that I disagree with that statement, which isn't even an opinion for anyone to make. Sales reflect commercial success. Sales only. Not opinions, which I never made about Reasonable Doubt in the first place lol.

You post here proves my point that nobody can have a regular conversation without saying "you don't like Jay-Z as much as I do? You must love Nas!" and visa-versa. I spoke against that cop-out nonsense, not for it.

And for the record, my two favorite albums of all-time are Illmatic and Reasonable Doubt.
