ya cuz Tmac saying he wanted to go up against AI/Bean/VC is Klutch sports doing
Who said anything about T-Mac? Talking about SS and Nick Wright.

the conversation is indigenous, if kawhi was on Lakers I would want him to rest as much as he can too. Saying he’s not a top player because he doesn’t want to risk his health for a regular season game is stupid

If he was on lakers the heat would be 100x worse to be honest. Doris Burke also called him out,

It’s not about the heat, it’s about using this and comparing it to Lebron and propping him up, which is why I mentioned klutch media. Nick wright saying Lebron never did this in his career knowing Kawhi has a bad leg is just stupid.

if they want to have a conversation about him, they can. Even then it’s okay for Kawhi to sit out games. You want him there for playoffs and not to hurt himself. Anyone complaining would be rooting to rest him if he played on their team.

I hear you guys, but is his contract degenerative?

Like it or not, this is a business and the TV revenue is a large part of why the contract values have ballooned over the past few years. One of the leagues premier stars sitting out in marque matches on the national TV schedule is bad for the league (as a business). And this early in the season it feels (to me) like a ridiculously soft move.

Aren't there other ways to limit playing time? Have players sit out practices? Limit minutes (in game)?

Teams are going to fu*k around and force the league to implement policies against this. How are these guys going to feel when there's a set number of games required to sit out for each injury? "Have a sprained finger? That's 2-4 games minimum that you'll sit until it's 'healed'."

Or teams could work rest games into their deal: "if you need 20 rest games a season (25% of the season), then our offer will be 25% less $$ than a max offer could be".

With the China issue creating issues with the league financially, I expect the NBA will do something to limit any financial exposure they may have with their TV deal. I'm betting we're going to see rules put in place.

And BTW, I didn't like it when the Dubs sat out players either...but KL is taking this sh*t to new heights (lows).

I dont see that ever happening

Fwiw LAC had two days off coming into this back-to-back and it has three days off coming out. It was almost certainly scheduled that way so that all healthy players would be available for both nationally televised games. This kind of "load management" is a problem for the league.

Kawhi might fukk players money on next tv deal, morey already killed the China money :yeshrug:

The team that gave him that contract is doing this too though. Hell the Nets gave KD a bigger contract knowing he’s going to sit for a whole year. I get what your saying but if his situation is that he’s on borrowed time, then him and his team should take the steps to watch the situation to get the most out of it. Look what it did for the raptors. They got a championship and revenue out of it so it’s not like everything is all bad. I agree with marquee matchups but it is what it is. I see more stars doing this going forward to be honest. It may not be right but it is what it is in a way

KD isn't a good comparison because he literally can't play so in that sense Kawhi is in better shape than KD for rest of this season, degenerative injury and all. And of course he's going to get paid since he's Kevin Durant and you take the gamble. But if by chance no one offered a deal and he missed out hundreds of millions the league probably has its biggest controversy since Sterling since most still feel Golden State pressured him when he wasn't healthy.

Kawhi and his camp, the Clippers, and apparently the league are fine with him missing marquee games. He should have no issues since the checks come regardless, the Clippers obviously have no issue since the league is covering for them. The league will have a major issue if this becomes commonplace with more players and PR pieces through Woj won't save them from viewership decline.

It comes back to the whole what's the point of buying a ticket if you're a fan x100 because now you're dealing with billion dollar networks and contracts like @CSquare43 said. This is something you take into negotiations and even if you tried to flex and move away from ESPN no other network wants that setup either. PG already isn't playing but at least I have Kawhi, now I'm blind sighted and have to pivot and advertise Montrez Harrell vs Giannis .

But I don't give a fukk about all that since I'm not the network, I'm a fan and wanted this game and it sucks. Oh well.

In other words. Kawhi has a degenerative condition that's going to plague him for the rest of his career but we are wording it differently as so not to fukk up his sponsorships and brand

Also sound like he might be compensating with his knee. But he signed that 3 years contract....that would just be dumb.

If LeBron told the Lakers he's only playing 65 games, ya'll would kill him, be honest now.

I know Kawhi has an issue in his tendon but we gotta stop with Jordan and MVP talk with this guy.

Slippery slope then because Fans and Networks should know the rest schedule NBA and clippers worked out. I know people in LA upset they missing KL v Giannis today who paid good money for the tickets.

True but the KD mention was in response to bringing up contracts of players who may sit out. That’s on the team, not the player. Kawhi has a disease that will only progress, yes his contract isn’t diseased, but that’s more so on the clippers not Kawhi. The NBa just came out and said Kawhi is not healthy. If this becomes a common theme with players, then I guess you play the numbers game. Who needs rests and who don’t? Kawhi needs it, maybe not aganist the Bucks but I understand the program the clippers have him on and let’s be real. Kawhi has played for very few teams he had to carry threw the woods and fire. Sure there was Toronto, but they was a deep squad that was #1 in their conference without him. Spurs were a stacked squad. Clippers themselves are stacked. Kawhi can afford the rest

I never disagreed that it’s bad for the fans but really it’s on the clippers and team who decide to rest these players as well.

And yeah LeBron can't afford to do the same even though he's old and needs it just as much, we've already seen it play out before. Since Lakers fans and haters outnumber everyone else they'd still hold your numbers down but come on.
