Haven't read the whole thread yet so somebody else may have already posted this clip, but here's a young brother (son of extremely successful parents) telling you out of his own mouth how much rap music influenced him to live a criminal lifestyle despite being the son of millionaires:

After you watch this clip, youll no longer be able to say that nobody is mimicking the a certain lifestyle because of rap

His parents are piece of shyt parents :manny:

imagine how bad some of the parenting is in the hood.
and those kids have a constant soundtrack playing in the background telling them to kill.

but im sure it has no effect...right? :jbhmm:
I grew up in the hood and had my pops that was on me all the time to keep me straight, and that was a nikka that had over 8 kids with different women. My mom was on me too but my pops was there(in and out type of nikka) :manny: turned out pretty good and same goes for all his kids and my brothers and sisters.

It starts at home and who raises you. If whoever raises you ain’t got it then that person will be a lost cause whether its to al pacino’s scarface or the rapper.
Or by just being exposed to watching the wire and other violent or criminal shows :manny:

If you search how many threads, topics, or comments on the coli as to what the main issue is, I can guarantee you it won’t be poverty. But you will find damn near endless rehashing of the same rhetoric, blaming rap. So I just wonder, if black crime is a topic so near and dear to posters hearts, why would they focus on rap much more than true leading and root causes? Where are all the outrage at poverty conditions that we have in relation to the threads on rap music? Where are all these threads? Is it about the community or is it about having fun shytting on an easy target like rappers?
rap/entertainment is an cultural anchor in our communities.
poverty is a leading indicator for crime...
....yet how much of our culture is focused on tried and true fundamentals that get people out of that situation?

The root causes of poverty wont change unless WE do.
Thats the issue and why people focus on rap.
Rap is an indicator on our broken mindset.

is crime just as high in impoverished white areas of the country?

This is the “gotcha” shyt y’all gotta stop doing though Jilla. You know you my guy. But a lot of times when people point out another factor, others will go right back to rap. Rap has an effect. A lot of stuff does, but we talking about violent music specifically, and o think we all would agree it has effect. The debate is to what point. But when something like parenting is brought up…something that is obviously a bigger factor than rap music, the conversation always get steered back to rap. Y’all shaming posters into not focusing on nothing but rappers, when they are not the main contributing factor

I don’t know the stats like that but I can guarantee you Crime is higher is white impoverished areas. I don’t know to what rate. But compare it to non impoverished white areas and I’m sure it’s significantly higher.

Black crime rates have been falling and are lower than 1980

There is no "culture of crime" either. A subset or small percentage of people commiting crimes is not tantamount to there being a pervasive culture of crime in the Black community.
This post should've ended this conversation but the fact it did not is proof that the people who believe that rap music cause crime do not care about facts, data or evidence. They have an anti rap faith that says no matter what their faith is right.

Music can have a bad influence on people, it's your choice though to decide what you want to do. The older i get the more i listen to stuff with a good meaning behind it. I don't gravitate to the negative stuff, that music comes and goes and it's only good to get hype when playing sports or other exercising activities.

Yep. I was a kid when NWA and 2 Live Crew came out. I though they were funny, they never made me want to do bad shyt. Other people see these acts and want to emulate them. You can’t just make a blanket statement like that

Bro

When you were a kid, NWA and 2 Live Crew were rarities...those were exceptions

The whole fukking culture today is NWA and 2 Live Crew
